Daytime coyote barking?

Yikes! We have coyotes in our area and sometimes hear them at night and see them around. The other night we went out to watch the meteor shower and got freaked out and had to come in because they sounded too close for comfort. Honestly though - they weren't THAT close.

A few minutes ago, I was on our back deck and they were barking like crazy in the woods right behind our house. We heard a siren down on the freeway (on the other side of the woods) and it set them off! They were barking and making howling sounds that sounded like they were immitating the sirens.

We apparently have a den back there! I've never heard them in the daytime before, and at night they seem further away.

Are you sure it's not a pack of teenage Camp Jacob girls trying to call their "people" out of the woods?

you probably do have a den back there and the pups ( which are probably more like teens now) are having a little fun...

I'm not going out for a look! I'm glad we have a fenced back yard because I'm not even wanting to take the dog for a walk right now!

We have them in our back yard and I have never heard them actually bark. The sounds Ive heard is more like a high pitched yipping noise. I used to go on "nature walks'' back there but not so much anymore!

They were yipping and howling. My DH just walked in and when my son and I told him about it he was immediately ready to go looking for them. I talked him out of it - for now anyway!
