We are finishing up day 5 of 8 at the Days Suites Old Town in Kissimmee. Prior to arriving, I had read quite a few negative comments on this board about the Days Suites. Now that I've stayed here myself, I want to share my thoughts and experiences.

The hotel is located on 192 just East of I-4 directly next to Old Town. We are staying in a 1-bedroom unit in J Building. When I made my reservation, I specifically requested a room facing away from Old Town because I was concerned about the noise and lights. I got exactly what I asked for and the room has been very quiet, even on Saturday nite when Old Town was packed.

We are paying $39.95 per nite and $49.95 for our last nite. The true rate is a little higher because they add a nightly fee of about $2.00 to cover the in-room safe and unlimited local phone calls.

Check-in was smooth and friendly. The first thing we noticed upon entering our suite was that it was very spacious. The living room is about 10 x 16 feet. There is a sofa, 2 chairs and a dresser with TV on top. One wall has a full-size Murphy bed.

The kitchen is also large - about 8 x 10. It has a full-size fridge/freezer, sink, dishwasher, 2 burner stove, microwave, cabinets and table and chairs for 4.

The bedroom is bigger than the living room, about 12 x 16. It has 2 double beds, ample closet space, and a nice dressing area with a sink and counter top with a bench to sit for makeup and such.

The bathroom is average size with a wall to wall counter and single sink.

Lighting is good in all rooms, though one living room lamp was unusable because the electric outlet near it was busted.

The first morning, we discovered that our shower didn't work. The little knob you pull to make the water come out of the showerhead was missing. I called the front desk and maintenance was there within 10 minutes. The guy was friendly and efficient. It took him all of 2 minutes to replace the part and he was gone.

Another day, the maid removed our empty tissue box but didn't leave a fresh box. I called and asked for a box to be sent over and again, within 10 minutes, they were there.

I admit that the room was not in pristine condition. Its an old hotel but I think overall it is well maintained. The kitchen cabinets had a couple of mismatched doors and there were assorted chips and scratches on the furniture, but we really couldn't have cared less about those things. The room was always clean, the beds were comfortable and service was excellent anytime we had a problem.

There are literally hundreds of choices of hotels in the Disney area, but I think you'd have a tough time finding a better value than the Days Suites. This was certainly the most spacious suite we've had anywhere and for $39.95 it was a steal.

By the way, when you stay here, you also get free ride tickets for Old Town. I expected a nominal number of tickets as a promotional gimmick. What we got was 3 free ride tickets for each person in our suite, so we were due 9 tickets. When we handed in our coupon, the clerk actually gave us 12 tickets for some reason. Anyway, those tickets would have cost between $30 and $60 (depending on what rides you chose to ride). Since we used all of our tickets, the value was about the cost of our first nite at the hotel. Just another reason why the Days Suites was such a good deal.
