Anyone been there recently?? We are rethinking our trip budget and we need an inexpensive place for 5 people. I've read some good reviews and some bad..I was hoping some Dis-ers would have some info.

Thanks,
Kimba

Haven't been there for 8 years but would NEVER stay again for free, if they paid me--no reason at all. The rooms were dirty and parking was horrible. It is right next to Old Town and when we woke up the next morning cars were EVERYWHERE --blocking in other cars. Check out the Comfort Suites Maingate EAST. People have gotten it for as low as $70. off one of the travel websites. It is on the other side of Old Town, the security was good about keeping the parking lot clear, clean and great hot breakfast bar (free).

We have not stayed there but I've read the same reviews. We did however stay twice now at the Day's Inn right next door. I found that hotel to be actually pretty decent one time and a hair below average the next time. Both stay's were within a year of each other.

I can say it seem's like there is a lot of noise coming from Old Town into that hotel area. It had a lot of heavy foot traffic going through the property at all times.

That is not a good area. We stayed at the Sheraton right around there once..."won" it at an auction at my daughter's school. It was a bad area and the security guard warned us to be sure to lock up at night...yuck, never again. The room was ok, just old, the pool area was nice but it certainly wasn't Disney...lol...we always stay on-site and for good reason!

We stayed there about 8 years ago.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Even though it was a suite, we would have had to "rent" utensils, pots, etc.

Plus, Old(e) Town was next door and NOISY!

JMHO.................

DON'T DO IT!!! I have stayed their twice. The first was probably 8 years ago--it was not so bad then. You do get a lot of space--living room with pull out bed, kitchen, bedroom. And it's nice to have the separate TVs in the rooms as well. But then I stayed again about 3-4 years ago and it was AWFUL! Unsafe area--we got fast food breakfast a block down the road near old town and there were wanted signs for murders that had taken place near that area. :rolleyes1 There were "suspicious" looking people rooming near us and we felt a bit scared coming back to the room at night. The sheets/bedding had holes and the room was very outdated and old looking.

If you are looking for an inexpensive suite, I would HIGHLY recommend Buena Vista Suites. I stayed there two years ago and loved it. A little bit less room, but you can still easily sleep 5. The rooms are very nice and clean. Free breakfast and nice location. Very nice pool. I know I had booked the room for $89/night when I went from a deal from Mousesavers.com. This year I am staying at Marriott Residence Inn, but that's only because I travel all the time for work now and I have enough points to cover a one week stay. If I didn't have that I'd be booking again at Buena Vista Suites.

There are many better options for a lower price. Check any of the travel consolidation sites (Expedia, Travelocity, etc). Priceline may be the way to go here.

Thanks Everyone. I guess I still have some more searching to do. Or maybe I'll keep the rental house and cut back on the food somehow.

Thanks Again!

Not worth it. We stayed there a few times years ago. As someone else mentioned you had to rent everything pots, dishes, utensils, toaster, all seperately so it was ridiculous.
The pool was never heated and our room had bugs.
We rent a house now for just a little more. you can even get a condo on ebay for the same 50 or 60 a night.

Is it even called Days Suites anymore? I think it has an Old Town name now. Anyway, we stayed there 8 years ago and it was ok for the price. It is now very grimy and we wouldn't stay there again. Very unsafe area at night. Parking is bad. I guess you could call us on-site Disney snobs now. :cool2:

I see often where people say it's an unsafe area of town. It's not really that bad. There are many worse area's of Orlando to be in. I think you just have to use the same common sense of when you're traveling anywhere.

We stayed there three years ago. What a dump! At night, coming home from the parks, people would be smoking anything but cigarettes and drinking and partying all night. It was scary:scared1: Room was dirty and disgusting. Wanted to leave but they wouldn't give us our money back!

We found another hotel. It has mixed reviews, but we think it looks nice. It's an inexpensive hotel but we think it will be fine. It's the Ramada Maingate West. The kids think the pool area looks fabulous and they love the game room.

Thanks to everyone who helped!!
