Let’s clear the air about a common question and debate about visiting a resort at Walt Disney World.

It is totally fine to drive your car to a resort and park at the resort. You can enjoy the shops, restaurants, entertainment and views. If they are too busy to accommodate parking, they will tell you that, and tell you where you can park.

There is no time limit to the length of time you can park that day. We go to the resorts all the time for various reasons, from here to eat to here to walk around…we have never been told “ok but you have to leave as soon as you are done eating”

so it is really strange how people act like Disney doesn’t allow you to park at the resort unless you are a guest …. From the parking page on Disney’s website

Again they do have times when they have no space for parking for non guests….but that does not change their policy.

just curious if you have done this recently and at which resorts.Lately it has been more of an issue at monorail and Skyliner resorts.

Yes so we did it recently at both the Contemporary 2x the weekend of the 50th anniversary start on the 2nd and 3rd. The 2nd we had a party reservation for fireworks…the 3rd we told them we wanted to watch the Bucs game at Steakhouse 71. This past weekend we visited Port Orleans to see Bob perform.

Also in September while staying at GF we drove over to Caribbean Beach on Saturday and told them we wanted to ride the skyline and they let us in no problem. But later in the month we were staying at WL and drove over to ride again and they told us to go park at Hollywood studios, park and ride from there. I didn’t ask why, not sure if it was too busy or if they are supposed to ask you to do that.

We stay at YC several times a year. There is almost always a sign up saying parking for resort guests only. Especially since the reopening, things are much more restricted. Just a warning to people to plan that they may not be allowed. They are also limiting ride share drop offs depending on the resort & time of day. We had a lift back to CR on Oct 2nd for our pick up back to the airport. We had to provide our name & that we were resort guest checking out to be allowed in at 3:30 in the afternoon. Moderate resorts have much more parking so have always been more accessible.

Most of the warnings about parking are in response to people who plan to park at the resort to eat & then go to a park. That is not in accordance with Disney’s policy. You can park to spend time at the resort. Not once you’re going to a park.

yes def not for parking and then going to a park. It is only for dining, shopping and entertainment. If you have a dining reservation at Beach club, they will let you park. If you have a boat outing at Contemporary they will let you park. If you are just looking to park for whatever...they will not let you park. I constantly see on here people asking if they can park for dinner...do they have a time limit? Can you drive to a hotel for dinner?

easy way to put it is, if you have something you want to do at the resort, they will let you in if they have parking available. But we have found that if they do not have room they will also tell you at deluxe resorts that they can accommodate you if you valet your car.
