(OOPS, hit send too quick)

My first attempt at writing a trip report.....be patient with me.

Who: Diane (me) somewhere between 30 and 40
Mom if I wrote her age down, I wouldn't see tomorrow!
Dad 66 (gives you a clue on mom's age)
Where: Animal Kingdom Lodge
When: November 28 - December 8
Why: It's Christmas time!

After falling asleep in front of the TV yesterday, I woke up in the middle of the night and was watching animals from my balcony at 4:00am. Watched for a bit and then went back to bed for a few hours.

I woke up again about 9:00am and took my time getting ready before leaving by 10:30am. Decided to take the first bus (other than Magic Kingdom) that arrived and the EPCOT bus arrived about 1 minute after I got to the bus stop. Went to EPCOT and renewed my AP. (Gave me a reason to visit the Food/Wine festival next year!) I was in the parks by 11:30am. The posted wait time at Spaceship Earth was 25 minutes! That was my first clue that there were a lot of people in the park. I usually travel the week after Thanksgiving, not Thanksgiving weekend - boy, was I in for a surprise! Test Track was at 75 minutes and even the silly boat ride in Mexico had a posted wait time! I was tempted to leave the park and go find another...except I knew they would all be like this.

Got my map and time guide and went to the fountain and sat and reviewed the times of the shows.....WHAT??? Off Kilter is on VACATION??? I'm on vacation....they can't be on vacation when I am here to watch them. That put a damper in the day, however, I trudged on. I watched the Fountain through one set of songs and moved on to World Showcase. I stopped and admired the tree and the holiday music on my way to Canada. Once in Canada, they told me that Off Kilter was on vacation for the entire week  I checked out the time for "Alberta Bound" which was the replacement group and decided to give them a chance. I meandered up to United Kingdom to watch the street show - it was supposed to be "A Christmas Carol" except they did "King Arthur and the Holy Grail" instead. The guy they chose to be King Arthur got into the role...a bit too much at times, he had to be censored by the curtains with some of his movements. And Gallahad the Knight was a dud....it was an interesting combo of selectees.

Went back to watch 'Alberta Bound' and while they were good, they were not as energetic as Off Kilter. I went back to United Kingdom and watched the street show of 'A Christmas Carol'. Again, a great show. Saw that Voices of Liberty were playing shortly so I hoofed it over to America and got inside just as American Vibe was finishing up. Got comfortable and waited, and waited, and waited. Eventually American Vibe came out again for 3 songs before the show started. I managed to stay awake during American Adventure and went back and heard Voices of Liberty after the show ended.

I then went and took the boat to MGM and had a late lunch at the ABC Commissary. Went on The Great Movie Ride (20 minute wait) and had the gangster side. I was trying to waste time until the Osborne lights started at 6:00pm. I went and watched some of the street performers and decided to head over to see Fantasmic at 6:00pm. (I knew I was going to be dragging by 8:00pm). Got a great seat in the middle section by a nice family from Michigan. The show here is so much better than the Disneyland version. After the show I took my time wandering over to New York street for the Osborne Spectacle of Lights to ensure much of the Fantasmic crowd had cleared out. The Lights are fabulous as always.

Meandered slowly through the lights and then made my way back to the entrance of the park and got on the waiting bus for AKL. Got back to AKL and stopped for a drink in Victoria Falls. Finally back in the room by 10:00pm and asleep shortly thereafter.

Tomorrow: Why can't Cast in Bronze be a regular show?

Goofy Diane, lighten up and enjoy the rest of your stay, you're in a marvelous place. I'd give anything to have my Sr. parents join us in WDW next week. Relax and enjoy that Magic.:smooth:
