We only have two days that we'll spend in Paris and I'm concerned about food...Anyone know any particularly good guidebooks or websites (in English) to help find good and reasonably priced places to eat in Paris? They'll be day trips from DLP so we'll be looking to eat lunch and dinner or possibly one large meal and a snack in Paris (proper)...It's our first time, so we'll be hitting the usual Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Louvre...haven't figured out yet if we'll go far off the beaten path...

We have such limited time to spend in the city, we don't want to spend our time sucked into tourist trap meals that are expensive and icky. (Not bothered by a bit expensive, if it's worth it.) I'm also open to hearing about your personal favorite places if you have 'em!

Oh, and we're Americans who speak little to no French... :scared:

There are some wonderful restaurants where you can eat very cheaply in Paris but very nice food.

You will find its probably cheaper to eat a meal rather than get a snack.

Places close to the tourist atttractions tend to be more pricey and touristy however there are some lovely restaurants in Montmatre - the area behind the Sacre Coeur. We have had some lovely cheap meals there and always try and time a lunch time for being in the area if we can.

Another area worth looking at is the Quartier Latin or left bank area. This is the student area so again there are loads of cheap but cheerful eating places. If you go to the area around St Michel metro station and explore the streets round there (head away from the river on the opposite side to Notre Dame) you will find loads of places

just to add - we did 2 day trips into Paris last Easter (08)and if you look at my TR from then I did quite a detailed summary of where we visited, metro stations to use and where and what we ate

Thanks! I'll be sure to read through your trip report!

I went to Paris and DLP twice last year (I was studying in Ireland) and I've found that the Lonely Planet guidebooks tend to be spot-on for their restaurant recommendations - I use them pretty much everywhere I travel and haven't been disappointed yet. Also, the great thing about Paris is that you can just wander the side streets off the main streets and find cute little cafes that for the most part have great food. Not speaking much french shouldn't be too big of a problem. In my experiences in Paris I've discovered that as long as you walk into a cafe with a smile the waiters will be very pleasant and try to help you with ordering!

As a side note: at DLP you should make sure to go to the steak restaurant in downtown disney - it's excellent!!

enjoy your trip!!!!!!!!! :)
