We are taking family (from Europe) to Philadelphia for the day today. (We were originally going to Gettysburg but too far).

We have never been there. Must see things/do? Parking suggestion if needed?

This is one of the places they want to visit on their list also.

TIA.

I don't know how much parking is in PHilly.
But there is a lot to see Liberty Bell has a whole new hall with alot of new things. This is a great weekend they are doing all kinds of things Welcome America its called. Penns Landing must likely is doing some things Concerts and things like that.

I would suggest parking in one of the garages or on a lot. Street parking is tough to find and the parking authority will ticket you the second the meter runs out, watch Parking Wars on A&E. There are a lot of activities in Center City. Franklin Square, the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross house, the Constitution Center, Elfreths Alley and Reading Market are all in a relatively close distance.
Penns landing is fun and has the Olympia and Becuna open for tours. The Olympia is a large wooden ship on the order of the Constitution in Boston and the Becuna was a WWII sub. The Seaport museum is also there. The Reading market has a lot of food stands and don't miss Termini's for their cannolis.
