We are going to Disney in middle of June and will be staying on site. Our children have never been to the beach and we have one day planned without Disney parks involved so we can go to the ocean. Which side of Florida would you recommend and what beach to see? Any estimate on how long is the drive and crowds on the beach? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I am also planning on doing this. I have heard that Daytona or Cocoa are nice. I think they are both around an hour's drive. I would love to hear comments from others.

We did the same think last month. We went to Cocoa Beach, it was a little over a hour away. Daytona would be at least 1.5 hour drive. Bring losts of quarters since you will be driving the toll road (exact change has it's own lane).

RonJon's is a distination by itself. They sell everything under the sun for fun at the beach. (suits and towels etc...)

We parked right behind RonJon's. It cost $3 to park the car. There are other places to get on the beach which are free, however this is a good place and it gives you a feeling of more privicy since everyone paid to enter. There is showers and changing area right by parking enterance.

Bring a change of cloths and something to dig in the sand with, as well as something to put shells in to bring home.

Several fast food restaurants are close by.

Have Fun

EXCELLENT CHOICE TO VISIT THE BEACH! As much as I can't imagine Florida without visiting WDW, I can't imagine Florida without seeing the beach (although next trip might be beachless).

We were at Daytona Beach a couple weeks ago. There is some construction going on, but it's a favourite beach for us!

Cocoa Beach is nice too, not as FLASHY as Daytona.

Both beaches are 1.5 hours drive.

HAVE A GREAT TIME!

WE HAVE BEEN TO FLORIDA ABOUT 8 TIMES NOW AND WHEN WE WANT TO GO TO THE BEACH WE ALWAYS DO KENNEDY SPACE CENTRE1ST - IF YOU GET TO KENNEDY WHEN IT 1ST OPENS, DO THE TOUR AND THEN IMAC, A QUICK WALK ROUND THE SHOPS AND THEN ONTO COCOA BEACH.

YOU CAN GET A TAKEAWAY LUNCH AND ON THE BEACH (PARKING YOUR CAR BEHIND RON JONS FOR $3 AND SPEND A GOOD 3-4 HRS THERE (IF YOU CAN STAND THE HEAT OF THE SAND)

BRILL!!
