Day Trip from DLP to the countryside?

We are at DLP from Tuesday to Saturday am and want to break up our stay with a day trip to a French village, with interesting things to see and do. Something to contrast with Paris (where we will be the week before). Of interest to teenagers and adults. Not a mall. Maybe something with some history?

Looking to take the bus or train, maximum 60 to 90 minute travel time. Any suggestions? We are thinking Meaux or Provins.
