I'll be in Sarasota for spring break week - Good Friday through the week after Easter, and I want to make a day trip to the MK with my 4 year old son. I've done day trips many times from Sarasota, so I know it can be a long drive with traffic. I'll probably spend the night before at a nearby hotel. I'm trying to decide between two different days.
Thursday, April 5th - if we were to go this day, we'd probably stay somewhere as cheap as possible offsite the night before. I was able to snag an 8:25 AM BoG ADR so we'd be able to (hopefully) get a PPO ride on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (one of my son's faves), and since we wouldn't have access to FP+ until 30 days out, this would be important. Our other FP's would likely be Big Thunder, Splash, and Pirates - and I feel like we'd be okay getting those 30 days out.
Friday, April 6th - if we were to go this day, we'd spend Thursday night at All Star Movies (already have the night reserved) bc the MK has EMH that morning. So, we'd get access to FP+ 60 days out and we'd get an extra hour of morning time at the MK. Also from my experience, spring break crowds tend to thin as the week goes on, so this could potentially be a less crowded day than Thursday (I know, less crowded is all relative when you're talking about spring break!) I did the Friday after Easter in 2016 and I don't remember it being that crowded at all. Honestly I think it was better than this past September at the MK
Both days are "peak pricing" days at the MK. I have a few days left on an old non-expy ticket, so I'd just have to buy one for my son.
I can't believe I'm even thinking about a day trip that is 5 months away. I remember back before FP+ I would do day trips all the time from Sarasota and I wouldn't decide to go until a day or two before!
