Hello:

Has anybody here taken a 1 Day Tour to Miami from Orlando?

Which company did you go for?

Have you used "Gators Tours"?

Thanks for your help

other than for cruise departures LOL!:)

It's a fairly long drive, though, I think...3+hours...from Orlando..? Would make for a looooong day., IMO:)

HTH!!

:sunny:

We drove to the Everglades and it was about 4 hours to get there. But DH LOVED LOVED LOVED it and he was driving so that was fine.

DD and did the Gator Tours drive to Miami. It was a very long day approx. 6am to 11pm. We saw a little of Miami from the bus, shopped at Bayside, had a boat tour, which the driver nagged us to take:(. Most people on the bus were not overly impressed. We saw very little of the place, had an hour or so at South Beach, time for a quick bite before heading back onto the bus for the long ride back to Orlando. I wouldn't do it again, WDW is much more fun for the cost.

So, it's not worth the trip than?

We have never been to Miami. We are not travelling with kids. Just my girlfriend and I.

From reading their website. I know about visiting Bayside Mall and South Beach. Time is a factor I bet! Is it worth the dollars visiting those places? We have an extra free day. So, it's either shopping at Premium Outlets, Miami or Kennedy Space (gf isn't really interested, she was told it's boring)

Let me know more of your thoughts.

Few more questions.

Pixie,

How many folks were in your tour group? Travelled by van or bus?

Was the boat cruise good? worth it? got to see as much as possible?

8hrs return trip. leaving 8 hours free (bayside and south beach). 16hrs total tour.

we are arriving from the west coast. who knows when will we be back.

Could you rent a car for the one day and head to Miami yourself? Florida is so easy to travel-everything seems to be well marked for tourists. That way you could go at your own pace to see things that interest you!
We did kennedy for the first time last trip...was not tooo keen on it-but had a interest-turned out we loved it-very interesting!! Plus it is only 1 hr from wdw and if you want you can also go to the beach ect!

I was with my 19 year old daughter. We drove right into downtown Miami and parked the bus at Bayside. We arrived just in time to stand in line to board the boat for the cruise. There were light snacks sold on the boat. We cruised the harbour and saw some incredibale houses and a manatee and a dolphin. The homes were really something else. The cruise lasted about an hour. There was a tour gyuide who told us who lived in which house. I belive the extra cost for the cruise was $30 USD.

After the cruise we returned to Bayside with about an hour to spare before heading to South Beach. We grabbed lunch from a small counter service place. Then we went on a quick hunting for gifts. We enlisted the help of the bus driver who gave us some pointer. We had a cup of Cuba coffee whch is an adventure in it's self, had a washroom break before heading tto the bus ( arriving a little late).

We drove through Miami to South Beach passing the slums, yes Miami has slums too. Got a passing glimpse of the Versace house before getting to South Beach. South Beach sand was full of beer bottle caps, and other debris so be careful where you step. We pulled up to some white a blue lounge chairs and got comfotable just as an "attendant" approached us to tell us that the use of the chairs would cost us $8 each. Sooooo, we walked across the street to Fridays and had a few drinks and the best meal we had while in Florida. I'm glad I had the experince but I have no plans to do this type of tour again. I found we drove past the "must see" sites to quickly to digest anything. If I ever do go back to Miami, I'd rent a car and drive at my leisure. Keeping up with the driver was too stressful for me.

I loved KSC as well as my husband...It was fun. There is also Cocoa Beach if you want to visit the beach...

I don't like Miami and think that the 3 hours plus getting there and 3 hours back would be too much for me for one day.

I loved to go to Clermont to see the Citrus Tower (http://www.citrustower.com/main.html)

or John's Pass with a boat tour in Medeira Beach near Tampa...Lots closer and lots more fun. http://www.johnspass.com/

edited to put in the web-sites

I didn't want to go to the Space Center. I thought it would be a guy thing, and full of American patriotism. My husband wanted to go, so we went and it was fascinating. I'd go again if I had the chance.
