5 day countdown until we leave for our first Disney cruise on the Dream and I am just firming up last minute details. Our Southwest flight leaves at 2:40. I understand you have to be out of your cabin by 8.

Since we will most likely be back at MCO by 10:00 or so would you book a day room for a few hours at the Hyatt? My husband would hate to sit around the airport for hours and it's not like we have enough time to rent a car and go sightseeing and the thought of having our own space to relax and freshen up for a bit sounds appealing.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

My family thought this was a great idea. We stayed by the airport outside pool and waited for our flight. The flight was actually delayed, but we did not care. From our room, we could also see how long the line was to get through security. It was a great idea for us.

Hmmm, I'd lean to no I wouldn't spend the extra money with a 240pm flight. I think our latest out of MCO was around 230pm and we just chilled and read during that time. If you did get a day room, I'm thinking you'd want to start going through TSA/Security by 1:00pm (being extra cautious) so you can be at your gate by 1:40pm. We always have main dining, eat in the MDR's on the last day and off the ship NLT 8am but we are aiming to catch a flight around 11:30am typically and have arrived at MCO NLT 9am. If you took your time and had later dining you'd be off the ship by 9am and therefore at the airport by 10am ish so that doesn't give you a ton of time.

The MCO Hyatt is a great hotel and we also love watching the planes from the balcony rooms but not sure I'd do it for just a couple of hours but each family is different :)

All depends how much $$$$$$ you have. For me it definitely won't be worth it.

I wouldn't do it with a 2:40pm flight. If my flight was at that time, I'd get off the ship, get to the airport, check-in. Go for an early lunch at one of the restaurants. Poke around the stores. Grab a coffee and a magazine and head to the gate.

The day room at MCO is ~$100. While that's not tons of money, I don' t think it's worth it with that timeline. If your flight was a few hours later, I'd change my response :)

Thanks guys. I had already made the reservation but I am leaning toward cancelling. I will talk it over again with DH. Thanks again!!

Not for a 2:40 pm flight. We had a 2 pm flight in early December (coming from WDW not DCL but we got there about the same time as we would have from Port Canaveral) and it took us 45 minutes through security. Now, I've been through security there at the same time of the day in 15 minutes but you just never know. We looked through the duty-free, stopped for some lunch and took our time but still only had to sit at the gate for about 30 minutes.

If you have little ones it still might be worth it but for older kids/adults agree with the above. We have done it but our flight was at 6 pm. One thing to remember is that I think you can't check luggage until 4 (?) hours before your flight so you might have to deal with that for a little while. There are lots of shopping and dining options at MCO and I love people watching too!
