Day rate hotel?

Does anyone know a good hotel that has a day rate near LAX? We have to be off the Wonder by 9.30AM but the flight back to Auckland is not until 9.30pm that night so I need somewhere that does a day rate near LAX (hubby has to be on that flight to get back to work, did try and wangle another day on holiday but it's not a goer). Just want to spend the day swimming in a pool, eating and playing with the kids. I've done a Google search to no avail so thought someone on the Aussie board may have some ideas.

We had a room for the day at the airport hilton. We checked in at about 9.30am and checked out at about 6pm (it was compliments of American Airlines due to flight cancellations) but still we were able to get a room for the day.

I loved the Hilton and would stay there again in a flash.

I have just checked on the Hilton website if you put check in and check out on the same day it comes up with the day rate.

Was gonna recommend the Hilton too. When I stayed there a year ago they had a day rate and I agree they are surprisingly better one would imagine

hi there,

we did that after getting off wonder on 2 oct this year...bus to airport, then hilton shuttle to hotel.....checked out at 6.30pm for a 10pm flight home that same day....the bus to from port from airport is great, reliable and on time. Have they told you where to meet the bus at the airport???or are you driving hire car????we met bus at delta luggage claim [terminal 4 i think] 10am for 10.30am meet. to get to the port at 11.30am.

just ask for an newly re-furbed room......they seem to be on the upper floors......big quality difference between new and old

has a great gym and pool area, although the pool gets morning shade and isn't the prettiest suroundings, so best use is after lunch...but has 4 spas...and towels are by the pool.

shuttle to airport leaves every 15 mins on average, but can get really busy at times.

the lobby bar makes the BEST hamburgers, and in the sit down restaurant they have a soup & salad self serve bar that no-one seems to know about... Also Denny's is in the next block, as is wendys. easy walk & safe..same side of street.

shuttle bus to the beach leaves on the hour between 8am & 6pm in winter/fall.....see valet for $5 return tickets.

as you can see, we enjoyed our 2 stays there last month..

The cruise is the last bit, so we plan on hiring a car and then dropping it back at the port (I think only one rental company do this). Then we need to get from the port to the hotel. I was thinking a shuttle but if there is a bus that goes from the port to LAX and then we can hop the shuttle that would work too. It's just juggling the luggage and the kids... mainly the kids but they'd love to ride in a bus.

I was suprised at the low rate for a day stay at the Hilton. I'm going to book it shortly as it's the one known factor for us - we need that room. Denny's is the kids fav resturant, so that's good that it is that close. We thought that we'd just swim them a lot and then get them tired so they slept all the way home.

re car, you can hire/drop off a car at the Hilton Lax as well, i think its hertz. The Disney bus is $60 per person return, so cheaper with a car.

We love Denny's as well, they have an all you can eat pancake thing before 12 noon i think....plus unlimited coffee......ahhhhhh I miss the USA.

I too made the DH swim @ Hilton and walk up to the LAX sign so he was tired for the flight...sometimes they need to be treated as toddlers...also if you wanted to walk, try calling in at different hotels..ie Sheraton,westin.. the lobbies have free wi fi, and the Sheraton has a wii in the foyer with tvs....and every hotel has a gift shop and starbucks. great way to walk off lunch, shop and surf the web....
