IS it possible to purchase day passes to use the pool area at the resorts? I am combining a business trip with pleasure and bringing my family along. Was wondering if the kids and Grandma could purchase a pass to spend the day at Beach/yacht club while I am at my conference at Dolphin/Swan. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Sorry, no. The pools are only for guests who are staying at that resort. For a day of water fun your family could go to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach.

Yeah, figured I would ask. I have suggested one of the water parks, but it would be so nice if they could stay near me and make it a little easier on Grandma. Plus we could meet for lunch etc. they could always stay at our resort to swim as well. Beach club is just so cool! ;)

What about booking the least expensive room which will give them access?

The same for the Swan or Dolphin...they have a really nice pool area too and it's probably less expensive than the Beach Club. When it's all said it done, it might be comparable to buying water park tickets plus they'd have a place to wash up & change if they wanted/needed to.

You can add people to your room reservation up to max allowed. even if they don't stay, they coul dthne use the pool area.

Because Storm Along Bay is so popular, even if you add them to your room for a night they will not be allowed to use SAB.

I'm not getting something. If the OP books a room at BC and adds his family, they can use SAB. Am I misunderstanding something?

No you're not missing anything. If I book a room at BC for 10 nights and want to add someone for 1 night, then that person will not be allowed to use SAB. If I were to add the extra person for all 10 nights, then yes they will be able to.

This information was posted on the YC/BC FAQ Thread by a CM, TeenaS, that works at the BC because this specific question came up.

That makes no sense, although I would trust Teena's opinion generally. If the person had a room key or now a Magic band and they were on the reservation, they would be able to access the pool.

It sounds like someone misinterpreted the question or the answer.

Here is Teena's reply to someone asking if they could add their niece to their reservation for a night so she could join them at SAB.

Your niece won't be able to join you at SAB. However, if you add her to the reservation for your entire trip, then she will have a magic band the same as yours saying she is staying at the BC. Guests are not allowed at SAB. Day guests can be added to your reservation for a night at a time but they get a key that only opens the door to your room. That key will not give them access to SAB!!

If you are on a package with tickets and dining plan, obviously you would not want to add your niece on the reservation. However, if you have a room only reservation and you have less than five people on your reservation, I'd just add your niece to your reservation. Maximum in the room is five people. You would need to do this asap so you can order her a magic band too.

If you don't have a room only reservation, then she wouldn't be allowed in SAB. However, you can always go to one of the quiet pools or if you had planned a whole day at SAB with her, instead you could all go to a water park.

Not sure how to say this without sounding like I'm preaching. I only want EVERYBODY to get a heads up about this subject and please know I'm definitely not judging anybody - just want people to know what can happen. Everyone should know that the way the above poster got his niece into SAB in the past, although it might have worked, it was not allowed. If he had been caught transferring the room key to his niece to get a wrist band for SAB, he could have been asked to not only leave the pool, but also to leave the hotel totally. I've seen people get caught before and some of the times, due to circumstances (how they reacted to being caught), they were asked to pack up and leave the premises totally. Room keys and magic bands, etc. are NON TRANSFERABLE. Some guests just don't know the rules and some do and figure out ways to cheat the system. Beware though that especially now with the magic bands, they are really really cracking down and you can be asked to totally leave the Y&B if you are caught. It's just not worth ii in my opinion.

I know lots of people think you should be able to purchase a day pass for a friend or extra family member. But if you sit down and really think about it, you'd agree that that wouldn't work. If ONLY HALF the occupied rooms at the BC, YC and BCV on any given day purchased a day pass for ONE extra person and went to SAB, there would not be room at SAB for most of our "paying" guests. If you allow one person, you have to allow everybody. So to keep it fair, they decided no more exceptions to the rules. At least there are quiet pools that we do allow friends and guests access to.

My post is only meant to inform. If you know going in that you can't take a friend of the family in for a day, then there are no surprises. If you think you have figured out a way around it to sneak someone in, just know that you can be asked to leave the property, not just the pool.

Hope nobody gets upset at me for posting this. Again, just want everybody to know the way it is.

Got it, so the distinction is having a package. I could see that. That falls under the advice to add people after arrival if they're only going to be there for part of your entire package dates and you don't want to get them the same tix/DDP as everyone else in the room. So that makes sense to me that the desk could control that by giving them a room key only for those nights they are there.

So obviously that advice won't work at that resort (or YC) if you have a package and want the to use SAB.

But for room only, it would still work and they could access SAB.

Only if you add the extra person for the entire stay. Otherwise they get a KTTW that only opens the door, but does not allow access to SAB.

Right, but for room only there's not really a reason to not add the for the whole time unless you are trying to avoid 3rd adult fees.

Thanks for the info though, I like to learn these things to answer other's questions here and I haven't been reading the Y/B thread lately. (I'm also the resorts mod on another board.). Grateful for my plain old family of 4 with no visitors that never has to deal with these issues!

(and thanks OP for letting me hijack)

If you're staying at the Swan/Dolphin, sorry, your family won't be able to use the Yacht/Beach pool.

Swan/Dolphin does have a lovely pool they can use.

If you're staying at Yacht/Beach and they are just dropping in for the day you can add them to your reservation (there'll be a charge for more than 2 adults in the room and you can't exceed room capacity) and they'll be able to use anything at the resort. If it's a convention you won't have a package, so you can just add them now. If you're willing to pay for a day pass, you might be willing to pay an extra adult charge if there is one.

But I get the impression the OP is staying at the Swan or Dolphin.

I really really do not think this is true. This is the only time I have EVER heard of this. And it's possible I've been here for awhile.

I've been told absolutely flat out WRONG things about resorts by people who work there, because people who work there are working their rears off and they know what they know and don't always find out the new stuff. I've also worked at jobs before where one thing is said by management and 3 people hear it in different ways.

If the is staying at BC and adds their family, as long as it isn't exceeding room limits, I truly believe they will be able to access everything just like a resort guest.

But I, like others, think that since the convention is at Swan/Dolphin that's likely where s/he is staying, and the above conversation is moot. I've heard the Swolphin have good pools, though!

Molly, reading Teena's actual explanation and her description of it being new and related to Magic Bands, I believe it's entirely possible. But at first, I said what you said. But Teena is an entirely trustworthy source. Not just a random CM.
