Is it possible to get a table service meal as a walk up or book a reservation a few hours in advance?

We are going oop and only booked a few ADRs just because I heard they can be a time drag but as the trip gets closer I'm afraid I've made a mistake. I have a feeling DH isn't going to enjoy so much QS and we all (myself and 2 kids) may need the break of a sit down meal.

I have the must do meals booked so this is more just for our days with nothing or planned mealwise. I'm hesitant to book now because the no show fee.

How would one check availability while at the parks? Just go to any restaurant and ask, any option on the app for that?

While walk-ups tend to be rare except for some of the less popular places, but you can without question get last minute ADRs online. We are not a planning family and almost always books our reservations the day of. Sometimes with hours notice, sometimes mere minutes. If you are flexible on where you will eat and the time, there are tons of options.

You can use the app to find open tables, as well as the website. You may also want to try looking periodically in the days leading up to your trip what is available that day for day of. Each day can be different, but this will give you a feel for how much is open and what to expect.

You can use the My Disney Experience App to make dining reservations in real time. It is really convenient! Looks like you're going in early June? It will be hit or miss, but at any park, you will be able to get reservations to sit down and eat somewhere on the same day.

Also a lot of stuff opens the night before, as people cancel last minute to avoid the cancellation fee. check before bed then again first thing in the morning.

You can check online with your phone, or walk up. You can also call disney & they'll check for you. As long as you're not going during a mega-heavy crowd time like Christmas week, or during free dining, you should be able to find availability somewhere. I prefer using my phone to walking all over the park asking for availability.

Thanks everyone! I just played around on the app, it looks simple enough.
Glad to know we should be able to get something while we are there.

Yes! I agree. A LOT opens up the night before. Definitely check before bed.

The app is very user friendly. Checking the same day for ADRs is super convenient with that app. As long as youre not picky, you will have options at restaurants. And definitely try a walk-up. It never hurts to ask. I've been successful at walking up and being seated at many popular restaurants.

Well sure they take time. But you have to eat, and why not do it in air conditioned comfort?

That is now my thought. I was trying to make sure we get as much ride and park time in but it might be nice too cool down over diner or lunch and talk.

What Kastoney said. I find waiting on transport early in the morning an ideal time to find reservations for the day. Sometimes I get super lucky and find a reservation for lunch for instance in just the amount of time it'll take me to get to where I want to eat. I do prefer to eat dinner late though and that may give me more choices. I don't eat dinner when its light outside, so it can work in my favor for sure, if you're flexible, you'll be fine! Have a lovely time!

We do this all the time! As others have said, check the app. Also, if you happen to be walking by a restaurant, it never hurts to ask! We've done walk-ups at Biergarten, Garden Grill and Spice Road Table (we've walked up to Spice Road Table at least 4 times). We've even gotten two walk-ups for lunch at BOG.

Also, if you have time and have any interest at eating at Yak & Yeti or Rainforest Cafe in AK, I would suggest getting a Landry's Select Card. It costs $25, but that $25 goes toward your check and all you do is show the card at the restaurant and you will get priority seating over guests with ADR's.
