DAY FOUR - Ireland ABD Trip Report
Here I go again. Trying to finish up this trip report now that the summer is over and DD is back in school.
This morning we met up at 8:30am to head out for our jaunting cart ride through Killarney National Park to Muckross House. The scenery on the cart ride was beautiful.
The tour of Muckross House took about 1 hour. As with many of the historical places we visited there was renovation/restoration being done. This house took approximately 6 years to be prepared to receive Queen Victoria. The family was hoping to receive a title from the Queen for their hospitality. Unfortunately, the queen only stayed for 2 days and the family did not receive a title.
We were not allowed to take pictures inside the house so here's another one of the outside.
At this point many in our group opted to take the bike ride through the park. Since DD is not fond of bike riding we took the pony cart to Torc Waterfall.
DD found an interesting tree on the trail to the waterfall.
Next we had lunch in the cafeteria. They had quite an array of desserts.
After lunch we took the bus back to the hotel and had the afternoon on our own from approximately 1:30 - 5:30pm.
DD and I decided to rest and relax in our lovely room.
At 5:30pm we headed off for a 20 minute ride to Kate Kearney's Cottage for dinner and some entertainment in the form of Irish dancing.
Up a small hill behind Kate Kearney's Cottage is the Gap of Dunloe. We walked up and took some pictures of the scenery.
I am glad that we saved this dinner for today rather than having it yesterday after the long drive that made so many, DD especially, not feel well. It worked out very well.
DAY FIVE up next...
