New Jersey's Fab Four's First Trip to the World!
Participants: Myself (age 32)
DH (age 36)
DisTwins (age 5)
Week of Aug. 24th to 31st
We have reserved this night as our Tenth Wedding Anniversary Celebration with PS for the California Grill at the Contemp. and ressies made for the kids at the Cub's Den. "Penny" at the Cub's Den is very sweet and easy to get to know! The kids barely turn around to say goodbye as they bound in happily at 6:30! There are 2 staff and maybe about 6 - 8 kids total.
We drive over to the C.R. (prefer this to waiting on the boat) and go up to the 15th floor. (While the resort is very nice, definately NOT the same first impression that you receive when you walk into the Lodge!
) We are early for our PS and choose to sit in the "lounge" for a drink to take in the breathtaking views of MK, GF, and Poly. IT'S JUST GORGEOUS! Wow! We are seated in a timely manner in the Wine Room. Some posts had suggested a counter table to enjoy the "kitchen show" by the chefs, but I'm very happy to have this quiet and intimate location in the back! We're even able to enjoy a view of Illuminations at Epcot off in the distance!
I know when I asked about the California Grill, the reviews were mixed. Well, I'm glad we kept our ressies because we found every last detail to be absolutely fabulous! The food was divine! Wonderful service from the CM who described everything in succulent detail! They brought deliciously appetizing bread (the "Three Cheese" was wonderful!), gourmet appetizers, and entrees that were among the best we've ever had! (DH had a "steak" entree and I had the "pork".) I had no room for dessert but DH enjoyed a sorbet. Truly a fabulous meal in every way!
This day is also my mother's birthday, the first since she passed away at the much-too-early age of 56 in November. We spend part of the evening reminiscing about her and thinking of how much she would have delighted in this vacation with her only grandchildren. Though I have felt her with us through much of the "magic," tonight is special and I know she is a part of it!
Return to the Lodge and pick up kids at 9:30. So glad today and yesterday have been pure magic in every way (because tomorrow has many rough spots!). The Epcot Escapades to follow!
