Hi DISers! For you experience cruisers, I am looking for some ideas! We're flying down 1/23 in the a.m. for the 1/24 7-Day cruise. We've booked at the Radisson, and now we're looking for some ideas on things to do/see that are still relaxing the day before we sail. So you experienced cruisers - any ideas? Myself, DW, and DS who will be 4...
THANKS!

Kennedy Space Center isn't far from there. we did that last year on the day we came back. A nice way to spend a few hours. My DS6 loved it. I thought it was pretty cool, too.

We are interested in this too.

Although we need ideas that one can "walk" to. We are having a towncar drop us off.

Can you walk to Ron Jon's, or there was talk of a Manatee viewing area.

Anything else?

Hey there Glenside - We're from Horsham!

We're headed on our 3rd Magic Cruise on 12/27, and are staying at the Radisson the day before also. This will be our first time having the entire day before to relax.

I've done some research and we may do the Space Center, but also found some other things to do via the Radisson website so I recommend that you check there. They have lists of beaches, sites, restaurants, grocery stores, etc.

Hope that helps!

Michele

How Cool is that?? I live in Hatboro! Small world, huh? Where in Horsham? If you don't want to answer, sent me a PM.

Nice to meet you...:wave2: :wave2:

We're doing the towncar thing as well. I understand that the Radisson pool itself is a great place (waterfalls, etc.) - perhaps we can organize a meet for DISboard members at some point in the day (dinner, or drinks/socializing that evening)...

I had read something online about the manatee thing, too - and I know that Port Canaveral has some restaurants/shopping; but I'm not sure what's in walking distance...

Hello Everyone,
I am a Massage Therapist that lives a half hour from the Port. I am trying to sell the Radisson on offering massage services onsite for cruisers. That would be a relaxing way to spend an hour or two (and less expensive than on the ship).
Hope to see you there,
Dawn Hope

Hey Dawn Hope.

I am a Massage Therapist that lives a half hour from the Port. I am trying to sell the Radisson on offering massage services onsite for cruisers.

As I think you know, we're gonna be at the Radisson friday, August 20th. If I need to book an appointment now, please consider this my formal request...

PS - Hey Andy! Therapeutic massages are terrific. Book now, my good man...

Hey BD~
hopefully your trip down to FL next year will not be anything like this years!! You'd definitely earn the massage!

Hey suburban Philly people!!!! I'm in Newtown!!!

My suggestions for the day before.....first we swam on the beach in Cocoa Beach....the night before the cruise we shopped at Ron Jon's....my girls missed that shopping trip the most when we sailed the following year.!!!!!!!!!!!!princess:

What to do in Port Canaveral??????? HUMMMMMMM??????
Well first off, you will need some kind of transportation tho the county has now added sidewalks all the way down from way before the Radisson to Cocoa Beach - it is about a 3 to 4 mile walk - there is a manatee watch right in back of the Radisson - you walk down right beside the Radisson on down to Manatee Bay - they are there for I checked it out - nice place and by next year is going to be really added to.
You do have the port, but mainly there are restaurants - like Rusty's, Grills -
If you need discount tickets for Ron Jon's, I have them at the shop --15% off which is pretty good.
We have the Brevard Zoo close to Melbourne which is nice and interesting -
I have a whole bunch of information on Brevard County that I will be more to share with you if interested.
Just drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com
always

And, of course, you have to pop into the Perfect Gift to say hi to Shirley!:)

Our plane is due to land at MCO about 1pm. I figure by the time we get the rental car, drive to the port, pickup juice/soda it will be midday when we arrive at the Radisson. May need to stop at Ron Jon's for a new bathing suit and shorts. Then spend later part of the day at the Radisson pool. Meet other DISers who are staying there that night also. Maybe bring pizza over to the pool for dinner.

We stayed at the Raddison the day before our first cruise this past September.

Just relaxing there by the pool is excellent..a guy sings in the afternoon, tropical type music. Very nice.

We stopped at Ron Jons, I think it is a bit of a walk...we had a car.

The best thing we did...we at lunch, dinner, and breakfast the next morning at Grills! Wow...delicious You can check it out at grills.com, there is also a coupon to use. Well worth a cab ride if you don't have a car.

For those of you spending part of the day before the cruise be sure and check out the map on Dave's site. Here's the link:

Space Coast

You can just hit the hyperlink for anything that interests you and it will take you to their web page.

Grills on the water is a great place for dinner especially if you come in Saturday for a Sunday sailing on the Magic. If you are there Saturday night you can watch the Magic sail past - really nice. We've done this twice.

Enjoy!

Hey BD....

We changed our plans and will now be at the Radisson on Friday, dfor most of the day. We have to get a DISmeet together.

Shirley - thanks for the tips and the info on the manatees - DW & DS will love that one. I'll try to email you this weekend about some PC/CB information.
