My GF and I booked our trip as a package (stupid, I know) and then we decided to add a few more days on at the beginning of the trip.

Long story short, Disney will not issue our park tickets early until we arrive. This means that we cannot make FPs until the day before we visit Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Does anybody know if there is ever any Fastpass avaliablity for some of the good rides (Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower, Soarin', Test Track, etc.) the day before? We are hoping we can at least grab a couple decent FPs. Thanks!

Are you planning to add park tickets to accommodate your extra days?

I've had good luck getting FPs at both of those parts the day before or day of. For small parties it is pretty easy to snag a FP. We were there in December in the days leading up to Christmas and decided one night to completely change our park plans for the following day. I was able to book FP for Rockin' Rollercoaster, Star Tours, and just about any other Tier 2 FP I wanted. With the new capacity at Toy Story Mania, I don't think you need a FP for this anymore if you get there close to opening. At Epcot, the same is true for Soarin. If you don't mind riding in the single rider line at Test Track, then you can try to get FP for Frozen (which may be difficult). Everything else at Epcot, I could get with little pre-planning.

You can keep refreshing from your phone to try and grab a FP as it is released. I would not worry about it at all!

We never book our FPs any earlier than the day before, sometimes even the day of since most of the time we don't know what park we are going to. We don't ride RNRC but have never had any problems getting FPs for the other rides.

Unless I plan a trip a few months ahead, I don't usually book FPs until the day I am at Disney. I usually have pretty good luck, especially if I want to ride Soarin' multiple times in the day. Only rides I have trouble getting the day of are SDMT & Frozen. Always good luck with all other rides in WDW.

It depends on when you travel. Heavy crowds mean fewer FPs available the day before. We went in January and May this year so far and were able to get everything the day before except 7DMT, FEA and TSMM. One day we couldn't land ToT. We expect it to be much the same in Sept, but add the Pandora rides to the list. But if we were traveling in July, I think that the list would be much longer.

You may find the Availability post in the FP FAQ helpful.

You didn't even get a voucher number to link to the MDE?

Are you sure that you cannot? Did you try? It does not matter that you don't have your tickets "in hand", if they are tied to your account you should be able to access them 60 days prior to your arrival for the number of days you have booked.

wondering if the issue is that they have a package booked for say 5 days and decided to come early and added say 2 days to the package tickets. People do this all the time with FD packages. You can pick up your tix a few days early but can only make FP+ 60 days in advance of the resort check in date that has the ticketed included in it. They need to activate the tix at Guest Services and only then can they make FP+ for the first few days of the trip.

The issue isn't that the OP doesn't have the actual tickets - the issue is that the OP has a package but now is planning to arrive before the package starts, but won't be able to book FPs for those extra days until he arrives and can activate the tickets for those extra days.

This is it, exactly.

This is exacrly our problem. We decided we would come a day earlier that way we would enjoy a pool day and then we pushed it out another half a way day so on our arrival day we'll arrive and check in around noonish and hangout and go to Disney Springs. Obviously we don't want to take our pool day our first full day there, so instead we decided to use our park ticket early

That makes sense....but you should still be able to book your fastpasses at 30 days then, correct? So you don't necessarily need to wait until day of?

Package tickets work differently than standalones. They will not be able to make FPs for days before their arrival due to the tickets being part of a package. In effect, the package tickets are invalid for any dates before the package begins. This is explained in the FP FAQ.

As others have said, I have been able to get anything if I book the night before or morning of except 7DMT (but I wasn't looking for it..). I am a party of 1 so that may be why. I was able to get FEA twice, once the night before & again the morning of last month. Both times, only evening was available after 7:30.
