Hi Ladies (and Gentlemen),
I need some advice. We're getting married in October at WP, ADH, and then dessert party at Upper French. We're having a welcome party the night before. We have about 120 guests coming, most from the New York area so they're from out of town. Should I organize something for the day after the wedding or do you think that is overkill and let people enjoy the parks? OR, should i view it as people are making this long trip, give them something to enjoy the next day? If so, any thoughts? maybe a brunch? Or something informal by the pool? thanks!

This is just my opinion, but I would let people do as they like on that day. Obviously, I don't know your guests, but many of them may not be staying in Disney for very long. Since the wedding events will take up the majority of your wedding day (Nothing wrong with that :goodvibes ), I think that giving them another event to attend just eats into a day that they can use as vacation. some people may feel obligated to attend an event you coordinate even if they would rather not (I don't mean that like they don't want to spend time with you, just that they may want to make a vacation out of their trip to be with you on their wedding day :) ). Also, you don't know how you will be feeling on that day. you may want to spend time alone with your new husband, and would not be able to excuse yourself from a large event.

I think there are so many ways to do Disney that trying to cooridante such a huge group may result in evryone having a good enouygh time, but no one having a great time, KWIM? Again, just my opinion.

We are only having an Escape wedding (so 18 or so guests), but our plan is to have a welcome dinner Wednesday, wedding events (wedding, luncheon, dessert party) Thursday, day for my fiance and I alone on Friday, and optional event for all guests on Saturday (lunch, tour park, something along those lines). HTH!

Thanks for you input! I'm thinking along those lines too but it's near to hear other people's thoughts.

Maybe have an event with some of your closest friends and family, perhaps a grand floridian tea party with the girls, or go the adventurers club at downtown disney. Something relaxed and fun!

The day after our wedding is a MVMCP. As of now both my DF and I will be attending along with my bridal party girls and their husbands. My DF's guys and their dates/girlfriends will be joining us also. We are hoping to get dinner reservations in the Castle. I have mentioned the party to a few of our other guests just to let them know we will be there if they want to attend also. I am sure we will not stay together the whole night but hopefully we can plan a place to meet to watch the fireworks.

Linda

Thanks! these are great ideas. I like the thought of maybe just immediate family for the next day as it will be hard to go through the parks with all my guests!! And I have a feeling I'll be exhausted from all the events of the prior days.

I have my planning session in 4 days! So I'll probably decide more when I'm down there.

We're going to the MNSSHP the day after our wedding and letting all of our guests know they are more than welcome to join us. I don't think many of our guests will, mainly because of the additional cost for the party, but we're expecting probably 20 or so will make it.

We were in a similiar situation but we had only about 75 guests most from NY. We hosted a few events before the wedding like a tea party, jellyrolls/PInight, tea for the owmn, desserty party etc. We had a brunch planned for the day after at GF Cafe but at the last min cancelled it and I was soooo happy we did. My wedding went until way after midnight and it was so nice to sleep in and enjoy my first day being married alone with my DH.

ooooh! that sounds nice. we will be staying at the boardwalk. May I ask the details?

The Yacht Club has buffet options, so today I speak with my WP and hash out the price and details. I'll post them or PM them to you as soon as I'm done with the call!

For smaller groups, you can do brunch at Spoodles on the BoardWalk by booking through Disney Dining (407-939-3463) or Group Dining (407-939-7700). We did this for our unofficial rehearsal breakfast.

Also, I thought I'd throw in my vote for no activities the morning after the wedding. It was so nice to do whatever we wanted: sleep in, go swimming, and relax. :thumbsup2

We are having our wedding at WP/ADH/ & french island.

We invited 186 guest almost all from NJ

The after noon before my DM and my MOH and her mother are having a spa day at the GF spa.

The night before is our rehearsal dinner at ohanas first seating... then a bunch of close friend of ours are going to pleasure island.

Then my moh will be staying with me in my room while my DF goes with the BM. I have one other bridesmaid that will be meeting at the room in the morning as her flight will be very late arrival the night before.

The wedding day will be jam packed.

The next afternoon we are going to the magic kingdom with my DF mom and step dad and his twin sisters (they will be turning 3 a few days after the wedding). We wanted to make it a day with just them since we have only seen them a handful of times since they were born since they live in NJ.

We're having the same exact wedding day schedule!! Mine is two months after yours. I would LOVE to see your reception photos. I can never find alot of the ADH. We're going down this weekend for our planning session on monday so i'm going to take alot of pics of our locations.

We're very on the fence about the next day. Personally I would like to relax at the pool. But I figured I'd still see there something that's not too over the top expensive.

Spoodles also sounds like a nice option. So many choices!!!:confused3

I sent you a PM.... You should relax by the pool especially if you have guest staying a few days later. My guest are leaving friday and saturday so i have no choice but to go out.

I am currently looking to doing a welcome dessert party before the wedding. The wedding day and then possibly some sort of hey I'll be here at this time if you want to join. But, I was thinking of a parade or something not a meal. But, I might do that the day after instead and just do whatever the day after the honeymoon. I say no plans because you will be scripted the day prior as to what you are doing. You might be tired of time lines!
