I have a solo DL trip planned for a week in May 2016. It is a one week trip Sat-Sat. I had originally planned to just upgrade my PAP and spend my time at DL, but the new price of the Passport just throws the numbers way off. I am now planning on getting the 5 day ticket instead.

Am I better off to spend weekdays in DL and use Sunday to see something else?

If not, how would you split your days?

If you were spending only one day on something other than DL, what would you choose? I am doing the typical Knott's Berry or Universal debate with myself at this point, but what would you do? Not just those two.

Thanks,

We were just there in March for the same days.

We did DL/DCA on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Knott's on Wednesday and DL/DCA on Thursday and Friday.

We thought Knott's was just OK and only spent 1/2 the day there. We found that it just wasn't Disney and went back to our hotel and spent the afternoon enjoying the pool at our hotel.

Universal will have the Harry Potter world open by then. If between those 2 I would choose universal over knotts. Never would have said that until I went to both in april. Knotts made me sad as it was not the place it used to be. If you do universal I would do that on a weekday as Harry potter will be new so super crowded.

If it were me, my other option would be to go to the beach for a bit (less than half hour away), then maybe some shopping at garden walk or whatever it is.

For our trip in Aug we did 3 days in the park, then a day off, then 2 days in the park. The day off was SO nice. It was great to sleep in, took kids to the pool, had pizza delivered, just relaxed and got to bed early for MM the next day. I would've also enjoyed just walking around DTD but DH was working from the hotel and I didn't want to leave him behind plus it was crazy hot out.

Honestly, if you are doing 5 days at Disneyland, I would do something non-theme park related mid-week (3 days, off, 2 days). Spend the day at the beach, relaxing at your hotel, etc.
