18 October 2004

We all woke up later this morning at about 8ish.

Walked along the beach with Enz then we all decided we would have the buffet breakfast at the hotel. Gianni for some reason feels he’s missed out on something if we don’t eat at whatever hotel we’re staying in – very strange child!

We all agreed that it was the worst breakfast we’d had in Florida! The potatoes, eggs & pancakes we dry and smelt and tasted very strange :sad2:

Gabs was itching to ‘shop’ at this point so we went to the Bay Walk shopping area near St Pete’s Beach – it looked better than it was. We had ice-cream and I bought a cap!

When we returned to the hotel Gabs wanted to shop on! We left the boys to beach it and I got directions to a shopping mall about ½ an hour away in Ellenton. Now this mall was MASSIVE – so you’d think we’d find something Gabs would want. Nope. We wandered in and out of all the shops we thought would interest us, had lunch and made our way back! I really enjoyed the drive to Ellenton though - we went over a very long, very high bridge that I can't for the life of me remember the name of! The Sunshine Skyway - totally amazing!

Spent an hour or so building sand castles with the boys before trying my new hairdryer and straighetners. Worked a treat but of course the night I use them there’s 97% humidity – nothing’s going to keep my hair straight in that!

This evening we didn’t know what we wanted for dinner so it was another ‘drive along until something takes your fancy’ type of hunts! Near to Clearwater, on the main road (we just kept driving in a straight line  ) we spotted ‘Carrabbas Italian’. Wow! What a find – this was fantastic!

We shared a mixed platter – calamari, bruschetta and fried mozzarella. Gianni had chicken pieces & pasta in butter. Gabs had salmon, garlic mash & salad. Enz – soup, steak in marsala & spaghetti. I had steak, garlic mash (to die for), salad and fresh ratatouille. The portions, of course, were HUGE so the kids and I didn’t finish ours off. We really should start to share meals!

Mini drama #2 of the holiday

When we got back to the room Gabs flushed the loo& it overflowed! (This happened to us at the Grosvenor last time! – I wonder if there’s a blacklist for toilet overflowers :confused3 ). We called maintenance and they were here (7th floor) before you could say ‘I need a wee’ – how do they do that?

He fixed the problem & brought us a stack of fresh towels because Enz had surrounded the loo with ours so that the water didn’t reach the carpet.

Mmmmm, Carabbas Italias sounds lovely. Keep 'em coming.

oops missed this one out earlier  i am a toilet overflower as well :guilty:
