Day 4-Animal Kingdom
We wake up and it is overcast and breezy. It’s our last day in the World. Tomorrow we must return home to our normal lives. Which in many ways is sad and in one way is good b/c I live 3 states away from Mr. and Mrs. Vegetable. I love my cousin, truly I do, but she has apparently married a crazy redneck and my family will have none of that! (well, we might have a little bit of it, but she should know that those are the people we sit around and talk about behind their backs)

We get to Animal Kingdom and head straight to the Safari ride. Well, first KP’s pass won’t work so they have to give her a new one so she can get in the gate, then of course KP had to use the restroom, then we wanted to take photos of the Tree, then we needed to find a spot for HV to wait for us….so it took about 30 minutes to get to the Safari. The kid wants to wimp out on us again, but we’re standing firm again! We finally get into the line, but only after waiting once again for KP to use the restroom.

HV was reluctant to ride the Safari due to her pregnancy. It also gave her a good excuse to use that cell phone again. Curses on this new technology. What happened to the good old days when if you were in a theme park the only way others could contact you was with a phone call to guest relations. Then they would page all over the park “Ms. Vegetable, you have a message in guest relations.” Then you had to find a pay phone and call the person back. And because this process was so tedious, no one ever called inless it was a dire emergency. Ahhhh…times were simplier back then. Now you can talk to anyone you want, wherever you are. Have we ever stopped to think that maybe that’s not such a good thing? How can I escape from reality into the magical world of Disney when my jerk cousin-in-law keeps barging into my vacation?

The Safari was really cool and we got to see lots of animals. But what happened to that guy that used to stand by Little Red and say “Little Red is okay!” and then give the thumbs up sign? I know it was hokey, but I was ready to laugh at him and he wasn’t there. Afterwards, we walked through the trail and saw more animals. Then we hoofed it on over to see the Lion King. Man, the park was crowded. The Lion King show is so wonderful. I really love it. We all enjoyed it. By then it was time for lunch.

We ate in the Rainforest Café. Our table was right in front of an elephant who had to continually remind us he was back there. It was very dark, chilly, windy and slighty rainy outside with no signs of letting up. I look over to the bar area and see the Panthers football game on one of the televisions, live from Charlotte. From the views of the game, I can tell that it is sunny and warm in my hometown. Go figure…I’m in Florida where it’s wet and cold.

After lunch, we saw the Bug show. We must have gotten there right after a show started b/c we walked all the way up to the doors of the theater. The annoying CM kept asking everyone to “look down at your feet and if you see any space, please make room” We were about to pass out from the lack of oxygen and those annoying bug noises. Finally, she said it for the 18th time and everyone shouted in unison “NO!” It was pretty funny.

Tarzan was next on the agenda. KP was drooling over Tarzan. He really is a fine specimen of a man. She said she never knew men could actually look like that in real life. But I wish they’d give him a new wig. Those dreadlocks are kind of gross. After that, we walked on the other trail of animals and did some shopping. KP needed to buy a Timone doll to take back to her dog. He likes to chew on Timone. (don’t ask?) We ran into the tail end of the parade on our way out and got to wave at Mickey one last time. We hit the parking lot right about time for the park to close down. We did Wendy’s for dinner and then had a Charlie’s Angel movie double feature back at the hotel. Mr. Vegetable only called once, and luckily HV had learned to keep it quiet and take it in the bedroom. So we packed everything up and got ready to hit the highway first thing in the morning. Another trip to Disney has come and gone. Next time, Aly and I want to stay at the Grand Floridian…..by ourselves!

I wonder if cil  (cousin in law) is related to Delswife's SIL?

Sounds like a good trip (despite Mr.Veggie). Just so you don't feel bad, it was sunny but VERY windy and chilly in Charlotte on Sunday (I live in the University Area). I think the high was 50 and with the wind, it felt alot colder. I'm sure everyone at Ericsson was freezing their bippies off!

How did you go down if you went through Gainesville? We always do 77 to 26 to 95 to 4. Do you have a shorter, secret way?

GO PANTHERS!

No secret way for us....sorry! One cousin lives in the Atlanta area and one is from Alabama. So we met in the Atlanta area and go down 75 from there. It's not any better or any worse than the 95 route, except that you have to endure Atlanta. Man, I do not know how people drive in that traffic every day! It makes 77 look like a walk in the park!

Go Panthers!

Thanks for you trip reports enjoyed all, guess sometimes you do Live and Learn..Hope your next report is from GF.

:wizard: Pixie Dust :wizard: For your next GF trip.
