Cast: Me (Sue)- 32, not grown up yet, travel agent with weird affection for Donald Duck
Dad- Older than me, likes Disney but just likes vacations in general
Mom- Older than me and younger than Dad, dislikes traveling but loves Disney and especially shopping at Disney
Day 3 started with great hope. Again, little ol Stitch woke me up and forced me to get out of bed. I had Star Wars on the brain and was looking forward to getting to MGM. Headed for breakfast, this time for French toast sticks in a bucket. We left around 8:15 for our quick ride to MGM. We arrived to see Stormtroopers hanging out and some people being filmed. Not sure what they were doing but we got a great picture. The wonderful Star Wars music was playing and everything was just great. The Stormtroopers came out and stood on the roof above the gates doing their hilarious routine. We were let in about 8:45 and had to wait for the rope drop. This is when things started going downhill. All of a sudden I felt crowded and pushed around. My mom was stressing that we were missing something and I started to get very frustrated. After the rope drop, we headed right over to the Star Tours area where I got in line for a fast pass to get Daniel Logans autograph. It took me about ½ hour to do that. I was shocked at how long the line to get into the store for the limited edition merchandise was, plus they were not letting people into the store unless you waited in that line or went on Star Tours. I figured it would clear out later and went to find my parents. My mom was in line at the Kiosk over by the stage, purchasing a t-shirt, Jedi Mickey, bracelet, and a couple of the pins. She had apparently been in that line the whole time I was in the fast pass line. I suggested we get out of that area and try to do the Great Movie Ride or the Backlot tour. The Great Movie Ride was closed last time we were there so it had been about 15 years since I had been on that one. I didnt remember it at all and really enjoyed it. We then tried for the Backlot tour but it was closed. Saw a few of the Star Wars characters and then found the umbrella on the light stand. It was working and I got a little spray. It felt good because it was hot! We then did Muppet 3D which isnt my favorite, but it was air conditioned. Back toward Star Tours where again, we were told that the line for merchandise was 3 hours long. I wasnt about to stand in that line. The crowds were horrible, nothing like I remembered from 2 years ago. I got a fast pass for Star Tours because I knew that at least then I would be able to get into the store. Then I had my meltdown. The tears started and I couldnt stop them. My mom, being the awesome mom she is, immediately recognized that I was losing it and decided that shopping was in order. We headed back to the Muppet store with me trying to hide the tears behind my sunglasses and knowing full well that my nose was red, and anyone could tell that I was upset. My poor dad just followed asking my mom what was wrong. It was just huge disappointment. I had built up the Star Wars event in my head so much because the last one was so fabulous. I was crushed. The one day I was looking forward to the most was not going well at all. My mom kept finding me silly things in the store to try to boost my mood. It worked. I found a stuffed Wheezy penguin (from Toy Story) and that made me feel lots better. It was time for my Star Tours fast pass and I went to do that while my parents wandered around. We were to meet at the Brown Derby for our 1:00 PS. I confess that though I love Star Wars, Star Tours is not my favorite ride. I am bored with the film. Too many times with the same thing. They really need to update that film. I managed to get into the store and saw that the line just to purchase in the store was about a 45 minute wait. Too long for me but I did see some things I wanted to come back for, including Darth Tater, who has been hard to find in my area. Feeling much better at that point, I headed for lunch. Let me just tell you that it was wonderful! We had an amazing lunch. I had this incredible ravioli for an appetizer and honestly could have eaten another couple of those. I had a salad with chicken and green goddess dressing for my entrée and then the grapefruit cake for dessert. Yum! It was just what we all needed, and we were ready to tackle more of the park. We decided to try the Backlot tour again but it was still closed so off to Indiana Jones for the 2:30 performance. I ducked out a little early because I had a 3:00 fast pass for my autograph with Daniel Logan. It took about ½ hour for that and he was very nice. I headed over to Rockin Rollercoaster and got a fast pass, then went on TOT- one of my favorites. It was time for RnR and loved that as well. Picked up another fastpass for RnR and went to get some water. My dad called my cell and said that he was near the front of the merchandise line at the Star Wars store and was there anything else I wanted. I couldnt believe he would wait in that line for me! He is such a great dad. I ran over to the store and talked a CM into letting me bring him some water. I managed to get into the store, grabbed the things I wanted and handed them over the rope to him. He bought the special weekend pins and Darth Mickey, along with a mug, Chewbacca t-shirt and Darth Tater. He was tired so he headed back to the resort where my mom already was. I stayed and headed back to RnR, grabbing a fast pass for TOT on the way. After riding those again, I decided to see if I could get a pic with Jedi Mickey and then leave. My foot was killing me and my emotional moment had drained me. Of course I just missed the bus and had about a 30 minute wait. Fortunately my friends, who have uncanny timing, called and cheered me up. I grabbed dinner at the hotel and went to bed, hoping that they next day would be better.
