Day 3: I’ve got to buy him!!!

Got up at 6.30am which was really good considering this time difference thing. Had breakfast in the room (we brought it with us) and then set off for Old Port Royale. I have to admit that for 2 weeks I referred to this place as Old Fort Royale, don’t know why. When we reached OPR Tricia phoned Mears to arrange our pick up for Discovery Cove for tomorrow. Seeing as the person understood her accent she booked our pick up for Belz on Thursday at the same time. She was told that the bus for Discovery Cove would pick us up at OPR and the bus for Belz would get us at Customs House (yeah right, wait till Thursday).
Our walk to the OPR only took 5 minutes and in the daylight my Caribbean Beach resort looked absolutely gorgeous, I knew we had made the right decision with this resort. Bought the refillable mug and went into the shop to look around. As soon as I saw him I had to have him, PAL MICKEY!!! Carefully carried him back to the room (took a while to find the stairs we had come down, the hedges were needing trimmed) and read his instructions. Looked at schedule and decided to swap today with Wednesday because I couldn’t be bothered going to Typhoon Lagoon today and I was desperate to play with Pal Mickey so we headed out to the bus stop to get bus for Magic Kingdom. Bus arrived at the bus stop at the same time as us. Arrived at Magic Kingdom, through bag search (see it is still a waste of time) and excitedly head up Main Street. Headed for Adventureland to get a Dole Whip only to discover the dole whip place wasn’t open yet. Instead we got a cola float at the place beside Aladdin’s Flying Carpet ride. After this we went on Jungle Cruise with a five minute wait and then headed over to get a fast pass for Splash Mountain. I was becoming increasingly concerned about my dear Pal Mickey, he hadn’t given me any information about MK at all and I had been very careful to have him facing forward when he entered MK. I opened the little zip on his back and discovered I hadn’t switched him on. DUH!
With fast passes in hand we boarded the train for a round trip of the Magic Kingdom, nearly jumped out of my skin when the let a child shout All Aboard, I tell you he didn’t need a microphone! After our train ride we did Splash Mountain, I love this ride so much, Tricia hates the drop but she goes on it anyway. Then we headed in the direction of Fantasy Land when we discovered that Goofy’s Jamborree show was just starting so went in there and got seats upstairs. The sign outside said it wasn’t due to open until July 1st so not sure if this was a preview, there were a lot of smartly dressed CM’s in the audience. We thought it was really good and pretty cool that the characters went down and danced with the guests. All the children looked like they were in seventh heaven. After this we went into the Hall of Presidents, we had never done this before and if I’m honest I won’t bother with it again. Couldn’t believe that they ask that you refrain from flash photography to protect the dignity of the cast, I mean they are animatronics.
For here we went over to Tomorrowland and had some lunch, chicken strips and garlic breadsticks. Walked back down Main Street to get a spot for Share a Dream Come True parade. Sat in front of the station, by the time the parade reached us it was raining pretty heavy. Headed to Fantasy Land again, this time we made it, and rode It’s a small world and the Carousel. Had a look round the shops and watched the Flag Retreat which again we had never seen before. I enjoyed this and looking round the crowd you could see the pride in being American in people’s faces.
Then we went on the TTA while waiting for our fast pass time for Buzz. My score on Buzz was pathetic, it has always been pathetic except that one time when I was a Galactic Hero!!! Had something to eat and watched Spectro Magic from Frontierland which was amazing as usual, this is my favourite night time parade, I love the music. Headed back down Main Street for the fireworks and then back to the Caribbean Beach with only a short wait for the bus. The bus went into the resort from the rear entrance so we were first of the bus, this was the case with the majority of the buses we were on so Jamaica was an excellent choice.
When we got back to the room we grabbed our mugs and headed for the food court only to discover it closes at 11pm. I was not impressed at all. Good job we had had something to eat before we left the park. Don’t know if this has always been the way at the Caribbean Beach but at the All Stars the food court was always open till midnight when we were there. I’m assuming it is a Disney cutback, we also noted that half the shops in the Magic Kingdom close at ridiculous times. I’m sure this “cutback” must be costing them more than they save. Anyway off my soap box. We decided to walk back to the room the long way going round the lake because I didn’t like Parrot Cay Island in the dark, I was terrified something might fall out one of the trees. Passed Martinique then Barbados and discovered I had to go through another wooded area. Passed Aruba and back into Jamaica and discovered I had an insect bite, thankfully Tricia didn’t so I could relax.
Back to room and bed.

Tomorrow is Discovery Cove and I finally get to swim with a dolphin.

LOVE your username!

All the way from Scotland for Mickey...just goes to show the magic stretches way across the chilly Atantic.

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!!!

I'm enjoying all your reports so far, just wanted to chime in on MK shops closing so early. We were there the week before you and shops closing at 6 or 6:30 when the park closed at 10pm was just crazy. The park was full of people too! I don't think I'll every worry about Disney finances again after that!LOL

Just curious, but how was Pal Mickey once you turned him on? I'd like to mention this to my son, but is it worth the money especially if he doesn't work once you come home. Or is it?

When I did turn him on he told lots of jokes, some of them were sooo bad they were hilarious. He did start to tell me about the park but was a bit confused, he told me all about Adventureland just as we left that area. He did work perfectly when he was turned on before entering the parks.

Now that he is at my home and not his own he tells jokes and there is 3 games you can play with him.

Mickey sounds great,if you switch him on!!!!!!LOL!!!

I can empathize about the food courts closing early! I got into ASMu at midnight last winter, and was absolutly starving, only to find that the food courts had closed at 11:30!

Enjoying your report so far!
