Warning- my posts are long because that's just how I am...I'm a talker, lol.

Day 2 at the Fort-

I started out the day with a 10am trail ride with the girls (Katie-13 tomorrow, and Cassie-10). They loved it. I have to admit I was disappointed with how slowly we moved...but they said it was for safety because they have so many beginners and people who are afraid of horses. I have been to other resorts where they offer beginner and intermediate, but they don't have any plans to do that here. It was chilly this morning...in the 50's. :confused3

While we were gone, Chad was giving Jack a lesson on riding his bike minus the training wheels. He did pretty well. We are hoping by the end of our stay we can go for a short family bike ride. Once the girls and I got back to the site we played some catch (with those plastic scoop catchers and wiffle ball) and then set off to tour some more of the campground. We drove through the cabin loops and admired the towel creatures in the windows...very cute. We saw the pool over there and it sure didn't feel heated !! I guess it didn't help that it was only in the 60's in the early afternoon !!

We took the bus from the settlement over to the Lodge for lunch. Great pizza again. We never got our DDP snacks yesterday so we picked those us there and brought them back with us on the boat. :boat: The lake is soooo pretty. I just wish it was warmer...it was quite chilly on the water. We stopped by the Trading Post [have to go back for F.W souvenirs before we leave] and we picked up todays snacks. I was shocked at what big snacks you get. We ended up with 3 BIG bags of trail mix, a BIG bag of cheddar Mickey's and a small box of Nilla wafers. Cool- now we have snacks for the long drive back to Michigan. You really DO get tons of food with the DDP.:thumbsup2

We got back to our site a little after 2:00 and did an Easter egg hunt and have the kids their baskets. Then we opted for some quiet time and Chad and I took turns sleeping for an hour. I really needed that nap after the late night last night !! I woke up about 4:15 and everyone was gone along with the golf cart. I grabbed my bike and rode down to the marina, two of the bigger playgrounds, the meadows pool and of course they ended up getting back to the site just after I had left, lol. The bike ride was nice...but I was a little "saddle sore". :lmao:

We took the kids to the pool over by the cabins. It seems smaller than the main one, but it wasn't crowded. :) The kids swam for about a half hour and then we had to get ready for dinner.

Tonight we went to the Wilderness Lodge and ate at Whispering Canyons. This place was so much fun !! A unique experience I highly recommend. Sassy wait staff that love to embarrass the customers, a stick pony race for the younger kids and some funny ongoing gags. Dinner was great and we all ended up getting dessert to go...we were stuffed !!:goodvibes

We drove around the rest of the loops between here and the marina. I still haven't found the partial hook up area or the entrance to the old swamp trail. We ended up back at our site about 9:30...the kids were actually asking if they could go to bed...they were wiped out. :worship:

You know, we don't miss the campfire at our site at all and I really thought we would. We are just too tired at the end of the day to site outside, lol.

We are having a GREAT time and I am already planting the seed in hubby's ear about coming back next year ;)

Sounds like you are having a great time. Are you planning to visit the parks?
Whispering Canyon is fun..I have a reservation in May and am looking forward to it.

Hope you don't mind but I thought I would ask you about this since you are at FW...
We had a poster on the boards earlier than mentioned that when they called to make a reservation for later this summer, the pool was going to be closed and refurbished with a SLIDE added to it!...I was wondering if you had heard anything about this during your vist?.:confused3 Would be great if true.

Keep the reports coming, I enjoy hearing about your trip. :thumbsup2

awesome trip reports looking forward to more (I love that they are long and informative:thumbsup2

Glad you're having a good time and I hope it warms up a bit more for you. What loop are you guys in? We're going for the first time in November.

yes, any slide information would be great popcorn::

Since you are in the 1800 loop, just make a right on Big Pine Drive and right down the road on the right is the 1500 Partial Hook-Up Loop. If you make a left on B. P. D. go straight through the stop sign and after the 2100 cabin loop you will come to the 2000 Partial Hoo-Up Loop. Go a little farther and you will come to the Creekside Meadow Tent Area.

Woohoo, glad to hear that you got some rest!

Isn't that the worst that someone shows up RIGHT as you leave?!?!? Thankfully the golf cars have better seating than most bikes....lol. You guys are probably in some park right now, enjoying the sights and sounds while we sit in front of our monitors dreaming away. Have fun today!
