Just me-Bonnie age: 50 something. Alone this trip except for the weekend when my husband will join me.
Security and Check in was quick maybe because it's a small but very nice airport in Charlottesville VA. I board a commuter flight for Charlotte NC. I sit here wondering what kind of trip this will be, me alone. My husband, Burt, is supposed to join me this weekend but there is a major problem at work so his trip is up in the air. I thought I might be getting another migraine like I had a couple days ago but I took a couple pills and maybe caught it in time. The "sky mix" snack on USAirways is nasty. I think I'll pass it by in the future.
Second leg of the trip from Charlotte was smooth. The plane was half full, got a whole row of seats to myself. My head is still bothering me some and the ladies in back of me never shut up and continually bang the back of the seat. No kids on this flight though.
I change into shorts shortly after landing. By the time I got to baggage claim my bag had just come out. A quick walk to L&M for my rental car, easy, no lines at any of the counters it was about 1pm. Now on to the first stop- Sea World.
If I was paying full price I probably wouldn't have spent the time here because it was now 2pm and the park closes at 6pm. But since I have a season pass to BG Williamsburg I can get in for half price. And when I flashed my pass I also got free parking which I didn't expect. The main thing I wanted to do at Sea World was Journey To Atlantis. Just my luck, it was closed for rehab. Maybe someday I'll get to ride it. Kraken was open with no wait but I didn't want to subject my head to that. Instead I ate lunch and headed to the Cirque de la Mer show. I enjoyed that. I scrambled over to the Shamu show, always a good show. Passed on sitting in the "soaker" section. Did that one time and learned my lesson. The last show I saw was the Sea Lion and Otter show. The mime before the show is one of the best parts. After meandering through a few gift shops I decided to leave about 5:45. On the way to my hotel I stopped at the Little Lake Bryan shopping center with the Disney & Universal outlets. I didn't see anything I really needed to buy right then, I may go back.
I checked into the Doubletree Guest Suites Maingate. Though it is called a one bedroom, it has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room and loft with another couch and desk. It seems almost a shame to waste all this space on just me but this is what I got through priceline for $30/night.
