Hi all,

What cutlery is there in these cabins by way of cooking utensils, drinking glasses, mugs, plates etc....

and what electrical items are there- it seems to vary lately.

I understood there was toaster/kettle/perculator/2 hobs and a microwave oven.

How useful exactly is this microwave oven-can it grill things or is it the basicest of basic?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp trying to pland and go in 3 weeks!!!

We've been to DCR a few times and always thought that it was well equipped. As you have said, you do get a microwave, cooker/hob, kettle, plates, cups, glasses etc. You also get a nice dishwasher saving the hassle of washing up after a long day in the park.

The utensils are of good quality (don't expect top-of-the-range but it will cater for your needs) and you can always speak to reception if you want anything else. You also get a charcoal BBQ outside for you to use if you so wish.

The on-site shop offers a wide selection of food, from your standard frozen meals to your fresh meat and veg.

Dish washer (you get a free pack from the shop, but may be worth bringing a couple of extra tablets), small kettle, perculator, 2 hobs and a microwave oven (don't know much about them, but think it's pretty basic). Should also be a few sauce pans, a strainer + cutlery (inc a very basic tin opener - I'd bring your own), coffee cups and glasses for six people.

Don't think there's a toaster, but could be wrong?

If there's anything missing, just give housekeeping a ring and they'll bring replacements straight over. They'll also bring clean towels and clean the room if you wish.

In future I'm going to bring and air freshener for the toilet as well. They never smell that clean (understatement!). I even scrubbed the floor this time, but it didn't make much difference. Other wise the cabin was very clean for a change :)

Oh, and you will have some visitors from the hexapoda family! We've had them on the last 2 visits. Don't stress too much about them, you are in the middle of a forest, and if you keep your food packed away in the cupboards you shouldn't see too many of them.

We didn't have a kettle or toaster, but expect we could have asked for one.
If staying again we would bring a few dishwasher tablets, teatowels, antpowder if in summer, washing up stuff, cleaning wipes just to give everything a wipe down.
The microwave (and indeed everything else) is just basic. Only 2 star accomodation after all!

When we went in April, we first had ants in the bathroom, the maintenance came and sprayed them, we kept the door shut overnight and they were all dead by morning.
Couple of days later they reappeared in the kitchen and once they had invaded the dishwasher i decided that was enough. I did not want the maintenance men spraying ant killer in the kitchen as we were sleeping in the sofa bed so I asked to be moved, that evening we moved into a lovely 2 bedroom cabin and had no more problems.
If I stayed there again i would pay extra for a 2 bedroom cabin.

Several times during our 8 night stay i requested another pack of 2 dishwasher tablets from the shop, which they were always happy to give me.
