Does anyone have any experience renting DVC points from this company? (dvcrequest.com) We always stay POR but we're very crowded. When looking up prices, he is about $500 more for a full week in June to stay at AKV 1BR. Seems like a good deal. Any input?? (We're total creatures of habit so stepping outside our comfort zone is :scared1:!!) TIA!

Yes, he has rented out points for me and we are totally happy with his services. He has it running like a well-oiled machine.......

I think he charges more because he is a DIS sponsor and is highly reputable vs. renting points from someone that you do not know. Just my opinion! :)

Highly reputable and very professional. Rented several times with him and he makes renting virtually painless. He's a 5 star in my book!!!!:thumbsup2

We rented from him on our last trip. It was a bit more (13$ a poin) than renting from some of the others on the DVC board, but I was not worried a bit about getting ripped off (NOT that the people there will do that!....don't get me wrong...it's just that I don't know them, and would be worried until I checked in. And what if there was a problem?...then what?) Also, for those that don't mind last minute changes, he sends out emails for very good last minute deals (usually about 7 bucks a point) and usually at Saratoga or Key West. I was VERY happy with his service.

This topic is better suited to the DVC-Planning board, so I'll move it over there. :)

I am actually thinking of using his service to rent my extra points out. Anyone have any luck/opinions with being on the other end of renting?

I have not use this service. We love POR but bought our DVC for the 1-bedrooms. You will love the extra space. Worth every penny.

Warning it will be difficult to go back to a regular hotel room after a 1 bedroom. If you get the 1 bed at Kidani you even have 2 bathrooms.

I thought it wasn't allowed for someone to rent out points like that. What am I missing?

I'm :confused3 too.
Does this mean that anyone can set up a business like this.

WDW reserves the right to preclude certain activities by members using their points as part of a business. I think the contract has a presumption that says if you do more than 20 bookings in a given period it's assumed you are acting as a business or something.

But I'm not sure that's what this guy is doing -- I think he's simply a middle man using points from those who wish to rent them out to make reservations for people who wish to rent. I think he collects the spread. I'm not sure there is anything in DVC policies that preclude this from happening. DVC could probably shut this down pretty easily if it wanted to by changing its policies. But it looks like they are ok with it, at least for now.

I'm actually surprised DVC hasn't gotten into the business of helping members rent their points (and charging a spread for doing so). Usually, if someone is out there making money related to disney products, disney is pretty good about figuring out a way to do it better and take away the market. Although maybe this would canabalize CRO inventory, which they don't want to do.

I just used him to rent out some of my points that were due to expire, since I didn't want to go through the hassle of renting them myself. Your points go into a queue, and he'll notify you by email when he has an interested renter. The only drawback is that you have to be quick to respond to his emails or he will offer the rental to another member, but if you miss out the first time, your points stay in the queue for the next time. It took about three weeks for my points to be rented, and it was a very smooth transaction. The money was in my paypal account within 24 hours (50% upfront and the remaining 50% on the day of checkin). I would definitely use him again and recommend him highly!

Thanks so much for the input!! I am trying to talk my DH into buying DVC. I'm hoping staying there will seal the deal for me. Keep your fingers crossed!

Peronally, I would like to see Disney crack down on his "business" and put him out of business. But that is not going to happen.

How much did you get paid per point? I am assuming he keeps part of it as a fee?

Wow - I dont see how David's business is hurting anyone...heaven forbid as owners we have the option to have someone else handle our rental coordination! Clearly we are allowed to rent out a reservation, just not commercially, so I dont see how any rules are being violated here.

We are new owners and have not had to use David for either side of a transaction, but I have already recommended his site to friends who are interested in staying in a DVC unit vs. a CRO room and will definitely consider using him should we ever be in that position!

Why? Am I missing something? Seems he is providing a service that helps both parties. What is wrong with what he does?

Should travel agents be put out of business? They are middle men who provide a travel service. If you're going to say something like that you have to justify it.

What kind of hit and run is this?
