I'm trying to book a trip in October, and it seems like I could save a lot of money AND stay at a nicer resort if I rent through David's. But I'm a little confused as to how it works. How would my park tickets/dining be linked to my reservation? Could I do that online or would I wait until I get to Disney? Has it changed since the introduction of Magic Bands? If I book through David's, would I still get the Magic Bands delivered to my house? Would the Magic Band still have my room, dining and tickets all loaded onto my MB??

I'm just nervous since the reservation would be through a second party and I've only ever booked through Disney where the dining, tickets and room are all just automatically grouped together in my reservation.

Also, would I be eligible for any Free dining promotions that come out if I had a DVC rental? Thanks for any help! :thumbsup2

Not sure about most of your questions.

As for Free Dining - no you would not be eligible.

Hopefully others will know the rest - does David's have an FAQ I bet most of these topics would be covered there.

Anyone is eligible for free dining, IF they pay Disney rack rate for an eligible room (but that would mean you would have a rental and a Disney cash room) ;).

FYI, You don't get free dining with AP or AAA discounted rooms, either

As far as I've seen, you get your reservation number from David, and then you link that reservation to your MDE profile so you can order magic bands (to your address) and make FP reservations like any other guest.

Yes, you will be able to link tickets, FP+, MB and ADRs to your DVC reservation - just like any other WDW reservation. MBs will be delivered to your home address as with any other WDW reservation.

Free Dining is available only to those making reservations directly through Disney - you would not be able to add it to a DVC reservation (and DVC members can't do that either).

The ressie will be in your name. You can link that ressie, your park tix to your Magic Bands. I think because you have a ressie# you can book DME yourself by calling disney.

Also, October is a very busy time for DVC - your resort choices will be limited for October already. Don't plan on any Beach Club or Boardwalk rooms being available, Grand Floridian and Bay Lake Towers are likely to be booked already. You'll likely be able to get a room at Animal Kingdom, Saratoga Springs or Old Key West.

This may not be totally accurate. You may want to talk to "David's" regarding FP+ and MB's. I am doing a father son weekend that I did't have points for and called David's to ask about a rental. I was told that MB's and FP+ would be an issue because technically the reservation is in the name of the contract holder and not in my name the renter. For this reason, I ended up doing a transfer from another DVC owner.

Many people have rented points and they have received MagicBands and were eligible for FP+ (with linked park admission).

We have rented points for a room this fall with David's and once we received our reservation number I opened up my MDE account without a problem and customized our MBs. They won't come for months, but I was excited:goodvibes

Like I said in my post, "may not." I was told three months ago by a David's rep on the phone that they would not guarantee FP+ would work for the reasons I listed. Just throwing that out there. As we all know, there are no guarantees with MB's or FP+ at this point.

Jupiter,

I best advice would be to call David's ask the question. They are the expert and have excellent customer service.

As long as the reservation is in the name of the person who will be staying in the villa and they have the reservation number, it may be linked to MB and FP+ just like with a DVC member or their guest. The member's name should NOT be on the reservation as it was just reserved through that account - much like a reservation made thru a travel agent - which is handled the same way.

I can understand David's not wanting to "guarantee" anything regarding MB or FP+, but the reality is that those staying in the villa will have control over their MB and FP+ as long as their name is on a valid reservation.

? DOC, who is the real owner of the ressie if going through David's? Is the DVC owner still libel for all charges if not paid?

The member that owns the points has control over the reservation until the guest actually checks in. The member can also be held liable if there are any unpaid room charges or damage to the room.

David provides the renter for the member, but has no other direct involvement with the reservation other than managing the payment. The reservation is still under the control of the member until arrival at the resort.

The renter has a level of protection, since the member will not receive 50% of the rental money until the guest has arrived. In the event of damage or room account non-payment, I would expect the member might also have some assistance from DVCrequest, but that would be a good question to ask. I'm not aware of that ever happening with a brokered rental thru DVCrequest.

My understanding is that they have situations where the reservation was canceled by the member, but they (David) was still able to provide accommodations for the renter - so they certainly have a good customer service record.

I recently rented points and had the same questions. Since the reservation is in your name, you can purchase park tickets online, then link them to your resort reservation through your My Disney Experience account. Once that is done, you can make your FP+ selections. All should be on your magic bands.
