Hi all you experienced cruisers out there,

My kids have been assigned a journal of their vacation as an assignment while we are on the cruise.

For my 6 year old son's journal we would like to decorate the cover of the journal with a picture of the Magic or Wonder. I was looking for a "clip art" kind of picture of the ship in black and white that I could have my son color in. The only pictures I can find are either actual photographs or already colored clip art of ships. It doesn't have to be the actual disney ship(although that would be cool) but some kind of black and white clip art of a cruise ship that he could color and use to decorate the cover of his journal.

Does anyone know a good place to find such an item?

Thanks for your help!

Just an idea for you...

If you already have a color clipart that is perfect, just use a photo program and print it in black and white! I do this all the time for my scrapbooking, I scan a color image and print it on photo paper in black and white. They turn out great!

Good Luck!:)

I have run into this with my kids as well. Here's what we do:

We take the original photo and put a piece of drawing paper on top of it. Then we tape them both (still on top of each other) onto a lightbox (if you have on, I do, I'm in that business), or to a bright window. Then the kids outline in pencil what they want to use (in your case, the ship). After that they color or paint in the rest by hand. This way we aren't violating any copyright laws, and the picture is really personalized by them.

PS. I you are working from a really small photo, you might want to enlarge it first, as it would be easier to pencil. DD10 loves doing this for school projects and has even taken in a step further by scanning her art and then digitally warping it into whatever she envisions.

Have fun,
Deb

Anybody else have any ideas on the "clip art"?

Thanks everybody with suggestions so far. Since DS is only 6, I would need to be the person doing the "tracing" of pictures. I looked at Taswira's pictures and the one is just perfect but in looking at it, I realize it is probably too complex for my little guy to try to color. He's not real great with the fine motor skills yet.

I guess I need to find a plain clip art in black and white of a large ship (not disney's actual ships). Most of the clip arts I'm finding are ships with masts and sails and such. No luck finding an "ocean liner".

It's not really a big deal, we may just go with stickers and glitter for decoration, I just had this idea and thought it would be cool.

You guys are great trying to help me with this!

This might be what you're looking for. When my daughter was on the cruise last year she brought me back a Disney Cruise Line coloring book. It has several pictures of the ship with the characters. They are 8x10 size. I only have a photo scanner which is 5x7. If you have a fax number I would be glad to fax them to you. Hope this helps.:earsgirl:

CastawayChar: I was going to PM you but there was no option to do that so I am answering here...I hope you read it!

I don't have a fax but if you scanned them, could you email them to me? It sounds perfect!

If so, my email is sonyaf77@comcast.net

Thanks so much!
