I was wondering how the teams work. What does it entail-- it there cometition between team? I'm training for the DL 1/2 and figured anything to keep me motivated would be good. Thanks.
I'd like to join a team as well. I need some motivation /accountability/ justification for spending too much time on the computer.
So what's involved? Is there an initiation? Interviews? A sorting hat? Will I be hazed? Must I wear a beanie? Provide gu for the whole team? I'M SKAIRT!![]()
I ran a half marathon a few weeks ago and I'm trying to decide my next race. I really want to stay at a level where I can run a half without too much extra training. I figure if I do a long run of 8-10 miles every other week or so, along with another 15-ish miles during the week, that should do it. I can bump up the long run a bit when I have a definite race in mind.
Soooooo, for that - any suggestions? I'm in Kansas City and the next big race is the KC marathon (& half) on Oct 18. I'm signing up for that. I'm also considering the New Mexico 1/2 marathon in Albuquerque in August. I'm from NM and that's my birthday weekend and my parents would love to drive up and watch me run. My husband earns free tickets on SW often enough so that helps. Otherwise, I can find a 5K or 10K most weekends around here. I need some more t-shirts, mine are looking a bit ratty!

Could I join a team also. I want to do the Disney' Princess Half next march and I will need a lot of motivation to train during the cold and snowy month next winter. Right now, I'm training for a 10k in september in Montréal. I run 4 times a week (about 25 k) and bike once a week.

Hi Dave, I am going to take the plunge and request a team placement. I hesitate because the last time I was on one of these teams I ended up being down with an injury for 2 months. Well, that is the past lets look to the future and the possibility of my getting the motivation back. I am entered in my second goofy (first one was '06) and hope to finish the combined 1/2 and full in less than 6 hours. Currently I am in the low to mid 20 miles per week but the plan is to ramp up the miles starting July 1st.

I'm not currently signed up for any marathons (not yet, at least... because as soon as classes let out, work went crazy and this is about the first time in forever I could sit down and breathe) and I'm not sure if that's a requirement (it seems to be a trend).

I'd like to join a team as well! I'm fairly new to running and currently training to run a 10k at the beginning of August and the Half in January. Right now I'm running 3x per week and getting in some cross training on the other days. I've already gotten a lot of motivation on this board and would love to get to know some fellow WISH walkers/runners.
