Well, it's 'Day After Vacation Disaster Day' here at our house. No, the vacation wasn't a disaster; it was wonderful! It's just that the luggage has exploded into the living room, leaving me to put away all of the things that everyone else doesn't know what to do with. Ugh! I was just telling PinkGirlyGirl how much I hate this part of post vacation, as if coming back from Disney isn't bad enough!
This was our first trip to WDW since purchasing DVC, and we were thrilled with our accommodations! We bought at Saratoga Springs, but stayed in a two bedroom at Old Key West (for the smaller point usage and larger rooms). I can't say enough about how wonderful we found this experience to be. We had settled our DVC contract on Sept. 14th, but we stayed this entire trip on 2004 points (thanks to our great guide, Doug!). I could go on here, but I'll try to post more about this on the DVC thread later.
We turned our quests in early in the week, and received our prize cards (times eight!), and then were able to do them again with our MNSSHP tickets on Thursday afternoon (eight again!). The trick to making this work, for anyone planning to try this in the future, is to use your MNSSHP ticket for park entry at 4 P.M. (the earliest that you can enter on this ticket), and then quickly head to VMK central on Main Street. They have no problem honoring your MNSSHP ticket as a park entry ticket (after all, it IS a park entry ticket!), but they close at 6 P.M. on Halloween Party nights, which is the regular park closing time on party nights, and the party doesn't actually start until 7 P.M. If you do not come early, VMK will be closed and you will not be able to get your extra set of quest cards on your party tickets. Anyway, it worked perfectly for us, and we were able to double our quest loot.
We did the tour on Friday (all eight of us!), and we had a great time, even those in our group who do not play VMK. Our guide, Melissa, was wonderful; pleasant and very informative. Our group was large (twenty), and it was very hot and humid (with a few showers, too...those Florida showers that just make it more humid). Melissa kept things moving and interesting, with lots of WDW and Walt facts that had little or nothing to do with VMK, but kept everyone involved. We even answered a few trivia questions along the way (thanks again, Mal!), and my daughter won the safari lifestyle collection for me...yea!
On Friday afternoon Gamebot drug us into VMK one last time to check out the new things that were being added, and I got to see and meet LisaInNC. She was there for MNSSHP, and was onto the 'between 4 and 6' trick, getting her extra quest cards. My kids recognized her from her picture on the DIS, and it was great to meet her. She said that she had lots of details and hints to post to the DIS when she gets home. She was very sweet, and after a quick hug, we were on our way.
Well, I guess I'd better get back to work. Thanks for the diversion from my post-vacation blues!
