We were very surprised - she's 18. I thought they usually picked younger kids? We got in the line one evening last week around 7, waited about half an hour, were the first group in the door for our session, and she was chosen :wizard: We did not buy her wand, however.

Congrats! They often pick older people. Often the show is much more exciting when an older person is chosen.

That's great OP!

The first time we did the show DS (9 at the time) was in full Gryffindor costume. Black pants, white shirt, grey sweater, tie, and robe! Other DS (11) had on a Potter quidditch shirt. They were placed front and center by the team member so of course we all thought there was a chance one of them would be picked. Instead they picked an older boy, probably 13-14, all the way in the back of the room. My boys were great sports about it. While they were both hoping to be picked they said "mom, we are glad that other boy was picked. We are lucky enough to have all this HP stuff and he had nothing".

On the next trip younger DS (now 10) was again wearing his Gryffindor robe and was placed front and center by the team member, and this time he was picked. Talk about one happy kiddo! He said it was the best part of the trip, maybe best thing EVER! And we did buy the wand!

My DD has a lot of Hogwarts souvenirs from our last trip in 2010; she took some of it off to college with her a few days ago, but was OK not getting the wand (it had a skull on it, which did not thrill her!) This trip she was really into Dr Seuss merchandise, buying a book, poster, and Lorax mug.

That's great, DS was picked too on our one time for the show. We always skip it as once was enough.

Thx 4 these posts cuz the way they make the place sound, you'd think all kids got a turn.. can't take my son now then coz he's autistic and won't understand.

Both my ds-then 10 and dd-then 13 were picked...the secret is to stand near the staircase in front on the far side of the room.

Not always. Like I said in my previous post the first time we did the show a teenage boy was picked from the very back of the room. When my son was picked he was front and center of the crowd. It's definitely not always the same spot.

My DGrD was picked the other day.:goodvibes We were almost last to enter the room so were standing by the door end of the room. She's a very tall just turned 10 yesterday- so looks more like 12/13. I was shocked when he pointed to her as she was surrounded by adorable little boys and DNeph was also standing by the staircase when he was chosen a few years ago. She had been wishing sooooo hard to be picked I had even told her I'd go again with her today if she wasn't. Lol. She was beyoñd thrilled and yes, I bought the wànd;) it showed up in the room last night and she slept with it in the box. She thinks it is even more special cause it was from the shop rather than the store. ( The box is even a little scuffed up lol) Does anyone know if the birch wand belonged to one of the characters? I thought they all were but it doesn't say.
