Daughter already outgrown her pants

Today my DD12 went to wear a pair of her pants that I bought her a month ago and also had to pay someone to hem. She only wore them once.

They no longer fit her! Neither did the other 5 pairs. I guess they must've shrunk in the wash.
Since they were all specially hemmed, I can't return them so I'm out the 150.00 dollars. I'm not a happy camper right now.

I now have to get her all new pants after school today since she has to come with me to try them on. She does not like jeans and only likes pants that "feel like t-shirts" in her own words.

Are there any good sales out there that you know of? Maybe Kohl's? I've already gotten rid of this weeks sale papers. Drats.

She's been a misses size medium so I guess I'll need to go up to large.

Do you mean that she only wears like stretch pants? My dd hates jeans (she has skin problems) and I have the worst time finding real pants. She always seems to be in sweats. Thanks Mary

Honestly in situations like this I hit the second hand stores -- Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. I would never pay $150 for five pair of pants to begin with.

If you are on the east side of Atl, go to Bealls in Monroe. Name brand clothes at great prices. It is a slightly irregular store but carries the same clothes that Goody's and Peebles does. You can get awesome deals there.

Check out Goodwill. I buy my kids pants there for $1.75 a pair and some still had the tags on them!!!

Are they too short? Or too small in general? I often have to hem pants, and I learned the hard way to always wash them first. I also try not to put them in the dryer once they've been hemmed, as they may still shrink in length.

Where ever you get her pants from, I'd be sure to wash and dry them BEFORE altering them in any way.

Old Navy is having a buy one get one 75% off. Might be an option for some inexpensive(and cheap) stuff she is sure to outgrow soon. Make sure you prewash anything before hemming!

Where did you buy them from and do you still have receipt/tags? A few years ago, I bought a shirt from Penneys that shrunk to a ridiculous size. I followed the manufacturer's directions for laundering and I couldn't believe the size of the shirt after washing/drying. It seriously looked like a child's shirt. I took it back to the store and they refunded my money. I would think that after spending $150, it might be a possibility and it never hurts to ask.

I second Old Navy. Their jeans are awesome! Sometimes they go on sale at $10 a pair. I just used two groupons for $20 each and also got the buy one get one 75 percent off. My DD is 12 and loves the fit of their jeans!

It sounds like you don't sew. If you know someone that does sew, they could add some length by adding ruffles, lace or some other fabric to the bottom.

That's my daughter exactly! Right down to not liking jeans! I was going to go out and buy her a bunch of new pants, but instead I just bought her some cute boots from Target and since they go over the pants, you can't tell they're too short. My daughter is a toothpick and if I were to go up a size for length, they would fall off her waist. I thought about adding lace, but decided the boots were easier.

They are like stretch pants only not so tight. The ones she has now are too small in the waist.

I couldn't believe it when I actually found some at goodwill this afternoon. I picked up one pair for 5.00 in a larger size.

When she got home, she tried them on and they fit so we went back and found 2 more pair.

At least she has 3 pair of pants that fit now.

This was a great idea! I hit a Goodwill today and found 3 pair that fit. They were only 5.00 each so I'm happy and she's happy to have some pants.

I may try another one tomorrow afternoon if I have time.

One really awesome one is on Broad Street near Peachtree Industrial Blvd called Assistance League of Atlanta. They're open Tuesday to Saturday and have weekly sales. They sell high end clothing for children and adults, furniture and household items. The items are set up by size, color and level, from good, excellent to designer. I've bought everything from Ralph Lauren to Prada there, for 2 to 20 dollars! Last week I bought my newborn cousin a bag of unbelievable newborn clothing for $7.00. We're talking Baby Gap to Gymboree, all brand new!

I actually frequent there for my ebay items. I buy designer clothing to sell for 10 times the price online. At the end of every season they have a bag day, where you can fill a bag for a small price. You have to stand in line to get it but it's worth it.
