Okay, let me pre-face this by saying I am currently not in school because of my disease, that's why IDK if this is the norm.
Also,I haven't seen my friends since the beginning of summer,so more than likely they changed.

But is it now the "norm" for for 14-15 year old freshmen to start dating older juniors, seniors in high school?

I don't do the whole dating scene thing.
I'd rather go play a sport or focus on my schoolwork then spend my time devoted to a boy.
I talk to my friends, check out their myspaces, and all of a sudden theres a new boyfriend who's a senior in high school!
Mind you we are freshman, and IDK if this is the thing in school because I'm not allowed to go, per doctors orders.
I find it hard to believe because these are girls who I've known since elementary school.
So is this normal or am I freaking out for no reason?

I've known a few people who have dated older guys, but... I think it's just weird. It's okay to date someone who's 4-5 years older if you're, like, thirty. But if you're in high school, I don't think so... The oldest I'd date would be a year, maybe two, older.

UNLESS that person is Edward Cullen, who was born in 1901. xD

You defnintiely do NOT need to have a guy in your life at 14 or 15 years of age. Chances are he wouldn't be the one. Anyways, rest up girl and get better! You have plenty of time. :)

A lot of upper classmen do date freshmen. Typically, though, its associated with 'not being able to date your own class.'

My first serious relationship was when I was a freshman I dated a sophomore. that lasted into my sophomore year (about 15 months.) Then we broke up, and a few months later I've started dating a Junior. We've been together for about a month.

I knew that I wasn't going to stay with my first boyfriend forever, but that didn't mean I didn't enjoy the relationship. I learned a lot from being with the same person for so long. Just becuase you're not going to stay with someone forever doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a shot. Relationships are fun.:confused3

Last year when I was a freshman..I went out with a junior. That's 3 years difference

I know this freshman girl who is a total sloot and she is going out with a 19 year senior who is in the army.

I think the whole Freshman dating a Senior thing has always been there. it generally older guys going for younger girls because no one their own age will go out with them. And it make the girls feel important to have an older guy like them, so they go with it. At least in my experience anyways.
That said, I dated a Junior when I was a Freshman ;)

Don't get me wrong,I'm not looking for a guy.
Not right now.

It just strikes me as odd because we aren't in a high school.
We're in a jr. high,8th and 9th,and the high school is across the street.

Then that's kind of weird, cause where are they meeting these older guys? Unless they share like mutual friends? My ex was my bestfriends brother's best friend, so I met before highschool...

the thing that sort of strikes me as weird is that you guys are in jr high, like, they don't even go to the same school as the older guys? (or from what i gather from your posts at least) so how did they meet?

at my high school it was totally common for people to date older people.
when I was in grade 9 a couple of my friends were dating grade 11's, I think the older people just kinda see them as 'fresh meat', they're sick of what their year has to offer, so they look for hot younger girls.

(oh, i don't know what the whole junior/sophmore/senior thing means...so i'll just use grades lol)

when i was in grade 10 I dated someone in grade 13 (we don't technically have a grade 13 anymore, but alot of people come back to repeat grade 12 before going off into the world)
anyways, it was kinda awkward, but i totally thought i was the coolest ever. hah!

Elementary school:
pre kindergarten
kindergarten

5th
middle school:

high school:
freshman=9th grade

senior=12th grade.

usually. sometimes sixth is in elementary, and 7tht-9th is in junior high.

humm.. i really dont know.

I mean I'm a freshman and I rarely date boys my own age. Which is 14. They havn't went through the whole maturity stage yet. So I date older boys for that reason. Not alot older but maybe 16 or 17.

We're in a jr. high,8th and 9th,and the high school is across the street.

Ahh every school is different about that.

Like my school Elementary is Pre-K-6th.
Jr. High is 7th and 8th.
High School is 9th-12th

And Jr. High and High school are in the same building just different bell schedules. Jr. High starts like 3 min. before us. So the halls want be crowded.
But then again we have 2 halls. Yeah it sucks but our school has a little under 500 in the entire school including Elementary.

And the Elementary is Right Next to the Jr. High and High school buildings. Theres like a walkway. But anyways back to the dating thing. Since 7th and 8th grade is in the same building as us. They see the same guys even though they rarely date anyone in high school, it wouldnt be odd if they did. Its a small town. So no one usually dates anyone in the same town anyways.

I remember when I was a freshman, a lot of people had serious relationships. I don't think there's really a certain age that it's okay to start dating, just whenever someone is ready.

If a freshman and senior connect, then I think they should go right ahead a date.

=)

Meh.
I don't think I actually know anyone right now who's dating anyone older, but I know that they're real good friends with the upperclassmen because of older siblings and sports and such. They go to their parties, they drink at their parties, etc.
The grade 11's are just horny little boys.

I actually dated a guy that was two years younger than me last summer. I was 17 at the time and he was 15. It actually worked out quite well for a while.

I'm a freshman and I'm dating a senior. That being said, we connected, and that's why we're dating. It has nothing to do with status, or maturity.

It just clicked.

I'm 14(nearly 15) and some of my friends have started dating older guys, all of them are jerks and they always end up hurt atm. Trust me, your missing nothing.

But I have family who met their spouses when they were 14, so it's always possible.
