Dates on AP card 2016-2017. Do you get a new AP card in 2018?

I am not sure if I am searching the wrong thing but can't find any answer to this question. I have an AP that has been renewed. My physical card says 2016-2017 on the back. I assumed they would mail me updated cards at the new year.

I understand its linked to my magic band but the card is used for some discounts.

So my question is... how do I get a replacement for the cards I have that are dated "2016-2017"? Thanks

Stop at any Guest Relations Location or Park Ticket Window.

You can also show your AP information on the Memberships & Passes page in MDE to receive any applicable discount.

The card seems like such an antiquated way to confirm an AP. I’m surprised it still exists.
For those without a MagicBand (or don't want to use one), it can be used to enter the parks and FP+ queues.

In addition to this, a valid AP card must be presented upon request to receive AP discounts. As an AP holder I have *multiple* magic bands and an AP slider but that slider does not confirm whether I actually have a valid AP, which the AP card does.

We renewed by mail in September. I did not get a new card in the mail either. I stopped at guest services to buy Tables in Wonderland on our first day & asked for a new card while I was there. Seems kind of ridiculous that you need this card to recieve your benefits but have to go looking for it. :rolleyes2

There are some AP discounts outside of Disney (like rental cars) Not everyone can scan a Magic Band.

Fair enough. I guess what I find a bit odd is that the card is authenticated via Sharpie

By the way, I've found that 9 out of 10 times, it's quicker to get the card at a ticket window as opposed to going to a Guest Services window. I've been able to just walk up the ticket window without waiting in line at all 4 parks.

Great tip...thanks

This reminds me... I just love how (when using the AP card for a discount) they sometimes check your ID (drivers license) and compare it to the sharpie Name on the card. As if it's not super simple to change that sharpied-on name to anything one wishes...

As I noted earlier, you can show your AP information in MDE as proof of discount. Same for DVC discounts.

Maybe eventually but not as of last week, not for merchandise. I've had 1 CM out of a years worth of purchases that would accept something from MDE. The rest required my AP card and my ID (both)

Are there new sliders every year?
Yes but they are the same every year
