Have you run it before? I found out about it right before the 1st one in 2010, just after I started running and decided that my goal would be to run it in 2012. So the time is approaching for me to make my reservations and then to register.
If you've run it before, when should I look for registration to open?
I think for 2011 it opened in mid February. I heard 2011 was much better at the after party. More to do and shorter lines. I personally loved the race.
I ran the inaugural race. I had a good time on course. The course is a ice run... Flat and using much of the marathon course. It did have a really long course though DHS. I decided to not run 2011 based on overcrowding of the post race party and the close coupled finish line layout. Both of these were fixed in the 2011 race.
Keep you eye out. The DL half should open first, then the WD. You will want to enter just after entries open. That is the period when the best discounts occur.
Hope this helps. It's a race I would do again now that the logistics have been repaired.
Thanks to you both! I'm excited and nervous about running it, especially since I may be coming down alone (something I've never done), but determined. I've only run 5Ks until now, but am signed up for my first 10K in January and then another in Feb, another in March. The W&D will be my first (possibly only?) half marathon. If it weren't Disney AND the Food & Wine Fest, I wouldn't even consider it.
I hope I don't sound too stupid, but what exactly is an "ice run"? All I can think of is smooth and flat, but I'm not sure if that's right. .

Your question is far from stupid.... It's the author trying to get used to the crazy autocorrect on his new mac. I am used to how PC's spellcheck and the autocorrect assumes words. I meant Nice, not ice
As far as one and only.... We will see. You may know afar your 10ks but not really until the half. I have found through the years that the half is one of the easier races to run. 5ks are all out, 10ks are almost all out while a half requires a slower effort, making for a little more enjoyable run. Of course then we go to the full where the body and brain both fight you near the end.
