Hi! Have been to Disney World many times but planning first trip to Disneyland around the first half of July (planning to go for 4 days). I have no idea which days would be best to book and which dates to avoid. I'd love to hear your insight into best dates to avoid highest crowds and events that are recommending to avoid or attend. Thanks!!

I have been frequently in July and it's a great month to go.

For crowds, most days will be similar. Saturdays are historically best, and actually July 4th weekend has become one of the lightest crowd times of year. I have been July 3-6 in the parks the past two years and the crowd situation was a dream. Low waits and easy LLMP usage. I encourage you get get park hoppers and LLLMP. The parks are literally steps apart and are best viewed as one big park. There are as many rides at the two parks as all four WDW parks. This concentration of rides in a small area makes wait times overall much lower than what you see at WDW. Weather in summer is also pleasant compared to Orlando. It can be hot at times, but it's a dryer heat than Orlando and frequently cools off in the evenings. No rain during the summer.

Next year DL is making a slight change to passholder blockouts that might have a minimal impact on crowding, but I still think going really anytime during July is a good idea. July 17th is DL's bday and can sometimes attract larger crowds, so avoid that date if you aren't interested in it for a particular reason.

Also, @LKing keeps track of "events" that can impact crowds (one day I will bookmark it so I don't keep bothering LKing!). There's not as much in July but sometimes a local children's hospital charity walk that can impact opening times and a cheer competition. We don't know next year's dates yet, but you can probably make an inference from this year's schedule. Best to avoid these if possible.

I have seen more and more folks say this. Soon it will be common knowledge which means it will be super busy next year 😆

It's been this way for many years now and hasn't changed how uncrowded it is. It even pre-dates Covid. Common "knowledge" on DL FB groups is that July 4th is crazy and never go then because it's mobbed!

Just remember that the universe of people on these boards is a tiny fraction of the population that goes to DLR on any given day. I still think, overall, summer is less attractive for many people because of Halloween and Holiday festivities. DLR has done a great job of driving people to other times of year, maybe too good a job! They do very little for the 4th, just a few minor things and no more patriotic bunting on Main Street like the old days.
