Wondering if the dates are posted anywhere for 2015 and when I can expect to see registration open? Thanks!

Depends on the race. For marathon weekend, typically about 2-3 weeks after it is over they announce the dates and registration opens I want to say in March or April.

It was around mid-April last year that registration opened. I remember because I was pushing it in the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run to get a certain time for POT before registration opened. And that's the first Sunday in April.

I am pretty sure when we are in Disney for the marathon weekend they have brochures that give out the following years dates....to mark them off in next years calander...but you cannot register until spring.

I also like to have an idea ahead of time, so I went ahead and compiled estimated dates based on the past couple of years. Obviously anything for 2015 is an educated guess at this point (except for the actual Tinker Bell event weekend, though Tinker Bell registration opening is the biggest guess of them all), and runDisney doesn't seem to be super-consistent with precise dates you can expect registration to open. Also a big question as to how Tinker Bell's new weekend will affect Expedition Everest (if EE even makes it another year based on never-ending conjecture of its demise).

But, these are best guesses, with all confirmed info included as best I can find: (anything preceded by a '~' means it hasn't been officially announced yet)

WDW Marathon Weekend:
January 7-11, 2015 (registration opening April 22, 2014) (event date confirmed and registration date updated per runDisney flyer at WDW Marathon Weekend expo)

May 7-10, 2015 (event date already officially announced) (registration opening August 12, 2014) (updated per runDisney flyer at WDW Marathon Weekend expo)

(2014: ~November 7-8; registration opening: ~March 11, 2014) (based on 2013 registration of March 12, 2013)

These would be my guesses....

The only caveat I have is that I expect the DLP and one additional major event at each DL and WDW in 2015.

** updated 1/14/2014 following WDW Marathon Weekend

Disneyland 2015 is most likely actually the 3-6. Not the 4-6. While parts of the website haven't been fully updated to show it for this year, they are making Disneyland a 4 day weekend much like Tinkerbell to allow the 5k and 10k to be on separate days and less chaos.

I also like to have an idea ahead of time, so I went ahead and compiled estimated dates based on the past couple of years. why is there belief that EE will be stopped? i'm just curious. i wanted to plan a trip around it in 2015 but not if it's not there!

I also would like to know because there were rumors it would not go on this year which proved to be false and it sold out much faster than previous years. For what they charge to do a 5 k and it selling out, I would think it would be silly to get rid if it. There is a nice fan base for it and the after party.

This year will be the third year I do Expedition Everest, and I hope it hangs around, but there are a number of reasons why rumors continue to exist that "this year is the last", which have existed each year for at least the three I have done. It's the smallest of the 'major' races that race weekends are designed around, as to participation numbers. Longer races can handle more people. Disney is in pretty much every case but this one (so far) moving to multiple-event weekends (5K + 10K + half, etc.), and so logistical questions exist since the event weekend headliner race is 'just' a 5K. (though rumors of course also exist to expanding this race to a longer format itself). There are more reasons, of course, but it all comes down to Disney always trying to find ways to make more money out of any particular event weekend, and this particular event is almost certainly lagging way behind every other event weekend in that regard. The Tinker Bell date change (below) just adds to concerns about Expedition Everest's fate, even though Marathon weekend and Tinker Bell have for several years been consecutive weeks and cross-coast - it just may not be a good sign for a smaller event such as EE which has already long faced these rumors.

But, no one knows for now what will happen to EE in 2015 - in my view, it doesn't look good, but we probably won't have any idea until at least May of this year (to see whether any date for 2015 is listed in this year's event program, and even a 2015 date's presence of lack thereof may not mean it is or isn't coming back). But for now I'd be very careful making non-cancelable plans if planning specifically around this race in 2015.

Ugh!!! Did I read that right, that the Tinkerbell is moving to MAY in 2015??
Yes, runDisney officially announced the date change for 2015 a month or two back.
