.........where they pretend to be a young (13 year old in this case) girl and chat in chatrooms on-line with men, then invite them to a house. There they have cameras set up and they interview these guys, then they are arrested when they leave.

I am amazed at how MANY of these guys come! I had no idea there were that many..................

Our chief of police was arrested by the FBI about three weeks ago for this. It's scary to think of who might be chatting with children online.

My DH & I were just talking about a case like this that was on the news down here re some old guy traveling down here to meet what he thought was a 12 year old (actually a police detective).

I asked my DH since he is a male, to tell me WHY would this old man EVEN WANT any kind of abuse of a child? He just shook his head and said he must be a sick s o b....

Maybe it's their "fantasy"? But really, how can that even be anyone's "fantasy"? Not that all these guys are old or anything, but this particular one was, and was really gross looking to boot - any 12 year old I know would take one look at him and run, not think that they were looking at the love of their life or anything

And then the next day we saw a report on a guy they caught during a sting in a hotel room trying to arrange a deal with a mother for her 2 and 3 year olds Yikes! I just don't get it.....

And why does it seem to be so rampant nowadays - is it an epidemic, or has it always been this way and just more reported now?

Those who prey on young children for sexual gratification are sick, warped, twisted and selfish people. There really is no understanding it.

You would be shocked at how many really sick 'fantasies' there are out there, if you can think of it...someone is fantasizing about it. Sick as that is, it's true.

It has always been, they are just getting better at exposing and catching them. The internet helps, believe it or not. Before there were less ways to trace this garbage back to the source.

I really feel for the LE people who actually have to deal with these twisted individuals. It would be hard sleeping at night, knowing what is out there.
