Staying 4 nights OKW next week. We have arranged childcare for 4p-11p(times are adjustable) on Wed night.

Here are the options we are looking at...

1. World showcase. (BTDT, but we do love it)
2. Downtown Disney and maybe take the boat launch to POR for a stroll.
3. Boardwalk. Never been there, but do have ADR at Spoodles.

We do have a car, but will probably take Disney transportation or a cab in case we have a few too many.

Any comments or other ideas are appreciated.

Thanks!

The Boardwalk is a fun/pretty place for a walk...and depending on how early your ADR is @ Spoodles, you could walk over to Epcot to hit the WS for a bit and catch Illuminations.

We are staying at POR for the first time in Jan. Our date night is going to be a glass of wine at the AKL lounge followed by dinner @ Jiko while our kids play at Simba's Clubhouse. Can't wait! Have fun whatever you do!

We are doing the same thing in a few weeks! I can't wait. DH has never been to Disney w/o our kids, and I've never been to Disney as an adult, w/o kids. So, we've decided to spend our date night in Epcot. We have ADR's at Tutto Italia, then we are planning to just stroll thru the World Showcase, and drink a bit in each country, and of course shop a bit! We even have friends from home that we are going to meet up with & do a double date! I am really looking forward to spending some time w/ DH at Disney as adults only!

I'm sure there are many other things for a couple to do. How about eating at California Grill or V&A's?

I will have some family with me on this upcoming trip so I am looking forward to some adult Disney time with DH. I'll be 7 months PG so I am limited in what I can do. Not going to stay at the parks late considering I can't really ride any rides but depending on how DS reacts to fireworks we may have to skip most of them so I'll be seeing some fireworks for sure on date night. A stroll through DTD is a must - and maybe we'll catch a movie at the theater there - how long has it been since we've done that! Also, mini-golf is a fun option.

I'd suggest stopping in at Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk - it is a blast! The first time we went, we intended to just stop in for a drink, and ended up satying until closing!

My DH and I did a date night last June, we had my DILs with us, so my kids got to play with them while we went out. We had 5:30pm dinner reservations at Calli Grill (first timers there), then we headed downstairs and had a drink on the main concourse of CR, while DH and I were having our drink, the bartender/waiter came by and found out we were on our "Date Night" so he suggested doing the monorail crawl, which was to go to all the different bars at the different resorts on the monorail line. So after hearing that, we got on the monorail and headed over to the Poly, where we each got a fruity drink and also got to watch a live ukelalie (sp) and hula dancers perform. We were going to get back onto the monorail and head over to GF, but decided that it was getting too close to the time that Wishes was going to be on, so we went to the beach and got a cozy spot. However, my DH decided that he wanted to get back on the monorail and head back over to CR and go up to Calli Grill and watch them from there. After watching Wishes, we decided to stay and close the bar. According to my DH, that was the best night that he ever had ....besides our wedding night. :goodvibes

Spoodles, Illuminations, Jellyrolls...perfect!! :lovestruc

Have a great time, no matter what you decide!

I think dinner at Spoodles followed by a walk over to Epcot. There you can stop in France (or whatever country you like) for dessert and a glass of wine or two (or five :goodvibes ). After that, watch Illuminations and if you still have enough steam in you, head to jellyrolls for a few more drinks and some entertainment (although I wouldn't consider this part romantic).

If you want fun, go to Spoodles, maybe rent one of those two person bikes for riding around the boardwalk, stop to see the magician if he is out and go into the Seashore Sweets and get some icecream or candy. After that, head to Jellyrolls for a night of fun.

Have a great time no matter which you choose! :thumbsup2

We had our date night over at Yachtsman Steakhouse in April '07 and then we walked around the Boardwalk area. We even went into the Boardwalk Hotel to see it for ourselves. Going over there made us want to try out a resort in this area, so we're staying at BC this month.

Anyhoo..... I think going over to Epcot for awhile is a great idea. I wish we had done that, too. :)

I totally agree with Illuminations followed by Jellyrolls. The walk inbetween Epcot and the Boardwalk is nice and Jellyrolls is always a great time.
Have fun!:yay:

Great ideas, thanks! :cool1:

Okay, so how long is the walk from Boardwalk to Epcot? Dinner at Spoodles at 5:30. Can we make it to Epcot for wine, then Illuminations? I love that Idea!

Jellyrolls sounds fun, but if we do this after Illuminations should I ask the sitter to stay later? Like maybe 1 or 2am?

How hard would it be to find a cab or towncar to take us back to OKW? The bus home late night does not sound fun, but I can deal with it if I have to.

Thanks again!

I believe the walk is about 10-15 minutes, but I have never walked it myself. You will definitely have enough time for dinner at Spoodles, a walk along the boardwalk, walk to the World Showcase (since that is right next to the International Gateway that you enter from). A stop for some wine and dessert and then Illuminations. Sounds like a great night to me!

Jellyrolls is fun, but if this is a day you plan to be out all day at the parks and then having your date night in the pm hours, you may not have the ability (or desire) to stay up that late and get up early again the next day for more parks with the kids.

If you can get the sitter to stay later, that is definitely an option to consider but for me, the aforementioned activities would probably be enough.

Getting a cab shouldn't be too hard. When we were eating at Flying Fish Cafe on the Boardwalk last year we weren't done with dinner until about 10:00-10:30 and all we did was get the number of a cab company and call them to pick us up outside of the Boardwalk hotel. Get the number of a cab company before you go down and then you shouldn't have to worry about talking to the front desk at a hotel you aren't staying at.

Have a great night with your DH!

i love the boardwalk area and it is so pretty at night. since you are in that area, after spoodles you can watch illuminations from the pier at the international gateway. i know a couple of weeks ago we had dinner @ narcoossees and it was so romantic cause everything was lit up at night and and we walked thru the GF and the piano player was playing the prettiest music and there were couples everywhere just sitting around and enjoying the music. you can go over to the beach club and sit out on the beach and watch the fireworks, that would be fun!!!!
have a great date night!

We're having a date night too! DMIL will be with us and she is watching the kids on Oct 3 and our 13th anniversary is Oct 5 so it will be an anniversary celebration as well. We are going to Marrakesh and then we were planning on just hanging out at Epcot. Didn't consider the Boardwalk but that sounds like a great idea too!

I'm such a newbie. Is the pier at the international gateway outside of Epcot. Can we actually see Illuminations without entering Epcot? That may be a better (and more economical) option for us.:confused3

If that's the case, we may play mini golf, hang out at Boardwalk, then make our way to the pier and call it a night.

I'm so grateful for all you experts!:worship:

There is a bridge after entering Epcot through international Gateway where many people stand to watch the illuminations. You would need a park pass to enter there.

There is however another bridge on the Boardwalk that you can stand on without entering Epcot but from here you will only see the very high fireworks and will miss most of the show which is very good.

Thanks! We will probably go ahead and upgrade our ticket to hopper. That way we aren't limited.

Have fun on you dates everyone! I'll let you know about mine when I return.

Leaving for WDW on Monday!
