We went to HS yesterday and my mom and I went to GS to get a DAS. Not only was I surprised at the line of people getting them I was also shocked that no one was asked for a reason. My mom said she wanted a DAS and was just asked for the rest of our parties magic bands to put on her DAS. No questions or anything. Is that normal? No one was being asked anything.

We were not asked a single question about our needs at HS studios either. They just asked for the magic bands and put it together. This was last month. I agree it's not usual and not the right way, either.

I have been to disney a lot when I go to renew myDAS most of the time all I have to say is I need to renew it and no question are asked I know a few times that I have tried to renew it I am asked more question then the first time I got it. I have been in line where other people were trying to get one and they were denied a DAS card and others I am not sure about. but I would say no that is not normal

Was this your first time or did you have DAS previously?

The last few times we've gotten it, we've said we were there to renew DD's DAS. The only question we were asked was whether or not her needs were the same

We have actually never been asked what dd's needs are, but her disabilities are pretty visible.

It was not our first time with a DAS, but it was our first time with the electronic DAS, and we did not have our old paper DAS with us. My son was acting up a little in line, but I can't imagine it was that obvious.

Last time I went and got 1 I asked the guy if he needed to know why and he said "No, it's not a front of the line pass so the reason doesn't matter"

If he had the paper version and this was his first time with the electronic version, he was already in their system.
The first time we got the electronic version, they were able to find our daughter in their system with her name.

That's not what they are supposed to do.

How do you renew a DAS? Is it possible to renew if you had the paper version 14 months ago?

Yes.
You just go to Guest Relations and tell them you want to renew a DAS and you have heard it is now electronic.

You will need to have the rest of your party (or their Magicbands or park passes) with you when you go because those will be scanned to link them all to the electronic DAS..
The first post in this thread has all the information you need. Don't bother to read past the first post - the first one was kept updated, but the rest of the thread is from just before and just after DAS was begun.

Thanks Sue. Do I need to bring my old DAS with me or can they look up my son in the system? I have no clue where my paper DAS is.

just tell them that you had a DAS card before sometimes they can look you up or they may want to know why you need a DAS just be prepared to answer why you need it like you did the first time. I have found that most CM now a very relaxed on giving out DAS if your son had one in the past you should not have a problem getting one now.
