DAS when Fastpasses run out?

I searched and couldn't come up with an answer.

If an attraction is completely out of Fastpasses, can a DAS still be used? If the current standby time is longer than park hours, can a DAS still be used.

In case I'm not being clear (which happens) a couple examples:

It's 5 PM. There are no Fastpasses left for Test Track. Standby is an hour long. Can a DAS return time still be obtained?

It's 8:30. Epcot closes at 9:00. Line for Test Track is 60 minutes. Can a DAS return time still be obtained? And will it be for 9:00 or 9:30?

I believe the answer is "yes" to both questions. You can get DAS times for attractions that have both a FP line and a standby line. The DAS essentially holds your place in the standby line, so as long as people are being admitted to the standby line, you can obtain a DAS return time. (FastPass is an unrelated system, so availability of FPs doesn't affect DAS return times.)

I think the standby line closes at the posted park closing times, so showing up 30 minutes before park closing shouldn't be an issue. However, if the standby line is closed (mechanical breakdown, weather, etc), then DAS return times are not given either.

since DAS is NOT a fast pass at all it is irrelevant when FP+ times have been exhausted for the day

as for other access: when the standby line closes( for any reason) , then DAS is also not available

This is a good summary

In the OP's second example, wouldn't the FP line (and therefore the DAS line) close with the last FP window, which would end at 9? If their return time was 9:30 where would they come back to get in line? Once the fast pass line is done at 9, wouldn't the standby line move faster? Do they leave the ride open waiting for the Das return time riders?

I would agree with this. Plus once it hits 9, the line would close, allowing no more entry into the attraction at all. However, most times towards park closing, the ride times are overstated and if you were to get in the regular line at 8:59 there probably wouldn't be too long of a wait (depending on the ride). For instance, I got in line last month at 7DMT at 12:57 when the park closed at 1:00 and only waited 15 minutes to ride.

I have used my DAS card when there is no more fast pass also I have used it after the park closed as long as a guess can enter a line then you can use the DAS card ( they may not let you get a return time after the park closes but you can go in the fast pass line ager the park closes)
