DAS & Rise of the Resistance

Has anyone used the DAS recently with Rise of the Resistance? If so, what was your experience?

I was there in December.
Now, I've read different things across Disney pages, but my experience was this:
You still need a boarding group, FYI.
When we inquired at Guest Relations about the DAS for RotR after securing a boarding group, we were told that they only give DAS to those needing mobility accommodation since the BG acts like an alternate waiting area. My DS uses a wheelchair, so that was fine with us. I imagine people using stroller as wheelchair would also be under that category. They don't do it like a typical DAS where they scan your band, they just have you tell the CM at the turnstile and they radioed it in to the next CM that a wheelchair was headed their way. When we got to that cm, they pulled us out of line and brought us into the interrogation room from an alternate entrance. They asked if he could stand at all and if we needed the chair all the way to ride vehicle. It does break the character a little, but it's needed so I get it.

Yes, we did during our December 2020 trip. Like everyone else, first you have to obtain a boarding pass. Wait for your boarding group to be called. when your group is called, go to the cast members working at ROTR and explain that someone in your group has a DAS. The cast members will direct you from there. I spent time reading the ROTR thread here on Dis boards to understand the best possible way to obtain the boarding pass. For our group, everyone made an attempt at 7 AM from the hotel room, we managed to get a boarding group. Spent day at HS and finally rode the ride late in the day. If you do not obtain a boarding group at 7 AM and you are in Hollywood studios there’s a chance for a second attempt. At this time I believe it’s 1 PM for the second attempt

Ditto! I found it best to check in with my BG before mentioning DAS because they’ve obviously had many people come asking for a “return time” without getting the necessary BG, and so I got a mini-lesson before I could tell them I already had one

We were also there in December and to my shock, we got like, Boarding Group #3! I was terribly worried that we wouldn't be able to get to the attraction in the back of the park before our boarding group closed (my DAS person moves pretty slowly!), but I was prepared to talk with the CMs there if we ran into timing issues. It worked out just fine -- we got to the park early and made the walk to the back of the park in plenty of time. Enjoy!

Once our BG was called we didn't enter the queue, but instead went up the front of the attraction and spoke to a CM, stating that our BG was called and we also had a DAS, and they had us enter from where they were--opening the rope they were standing at and directing us over to a particular entryway. So as we had entered Galaxy's Edge from the tunnel by Muppet-Vision, the queue of people entering the ride was on our left as we continued straight forward until we got the 'front' of the attraction. We had also stopped by earlier in the day and asked what the protocol was for once our BG was called/using a DAS, and the CM at that time had told us to go the attraction front at that time.

With DAS AND a valid BG; when you check in with the front; they will let you use the FP line. This skips all the walking queue stuff which in itself is pretty cool and gets you right up to the entrance of the first preshow.

So really depends on whether you want to skip the queue line. There's some nice stuff there and if the wait line isn't backed up, worthwhile to experience.

Disney Food Blog recently posted that you no longer need to be within DHS to try for a boarding group at 1pm. In order to be eligible, however, you will need to have at least 'tagged' in to DHS earlier in the day.

I used it in December and again just last week and had the same experience. When it was time for our boarding group we went to the FP entrance area and let them know we had a DAS and they directed us to enter through the FP line.

This is how it happened for me as well.

I just wanted to pop back and give our experience in January when we went. We did obtain a boarding pass and stopped by when we walked by once to inquire on the procedure with a DAS. They told us to just alert the CM when our time came up and we returned and they'd direct us. They did send us to the FP line. It was all pretty seamless and easy, except for the stress in our hotel room trying to get the boarding pass.

We were at Hollywood Studies on May 4, we had a boarding group number. The CM told my husband we didn’t need a boarding pass next time if we use DAS. I do NOT believe that to be true. Has anyone else heard of this? We are going there again tomorrow and I am still planning on trying for a pass at 7am, but just want to see if anyone was able to get on with just a DAS.

No. I have not heard that

I HAVE read some posts in other forums/Facebook groups where people using DAS went to the attraction and were told they could not be given a DAS Return Time because they did not have a Boarding Group.

This has always been out experience as well, you need a boarding group no matter what and it needs to be your turn.

Everyone needs a boarding group, even those with DAS. Once you get your boarding number, and are called, then you go to a cast member at the line and tell them that you have DAS. They will scan your band to make sure that you do and then they will let you on. This will not override any DAS return time that you may have for another ride. Have fun.

Now that boarding groups are no longer used on RotR, how does DAS work for it? By foregoing the regular queue, are you going to miss out on anything pertinent? I know there are things to see in the queue, but does skipping it diminish the ride?
