Does anyone have experience with presenting a personal note (not doctor's letter) instead of explaining the need verbally? Other than any questions they may have after reading, of course. The request is due to medical needs of a young child that we do not necessarily want to discuss in front of him. Thanks!

I am not sure if they will accept the note from the dr. I mean I guess they could but they will still prolly have questions that will need to be discussed. If I were u have someone wait outside the door with the child while u go in and talk to a cm about getting the DAS. If it's approved then call the child in to have their picture taken. That way nothing is ever discussed in front of the child.

My sister did this, and it was fine. She used bullet points, with very short explanations about her needs related to not waiting in the line.

She had no problem at all, and the CMs at GS were very helpful.

This is what I was trying to do. Mine ended up too wordy, so I need to cut it back again haha

Yes, you want it short - kind of just short notes for yourself.
Some CMs may not want to read it - because they may think it is a doctor's note or is long.
People who have posted they used a note have indicated they kind of introduced it by saying something very short about it.

Your child doesn't need to be right there, but should be in view and will need to get a picture taken with an iPad when the DAS is issued.

If you have t read the DAS threads near the top of this board, there is one about WDW and one about DL. The first post is DAS FAQs.

1) Perfectly fine to hand the CM a PERSONAL note.
2) As mentioned, they do not accept doctor's notes.
3) Before you hand it to them, just say something like,
. . . "Instead of talking out loud, can I explain it to you with my personal note?"
4) And, the idea of bullet-points is a good one.

I had DS stand over with Dad while I spoke to the CM then called him over when he came out to take the picture.

they will NOT take into consideration any doctor's notes at all. if you explain that you do not wish to verbalize the need, they will look at a 'regular' note but be prepared to have to answer questions when they request clarification. other than when the child's picture is taken, there is no need for him to be right there, just within eyesight.

After applying for a gac last year, and feeling rather uncomfortable with others clearly listening-and reading negative das reports-
This is indeed what I did in August.

The funny thing is,I actually wrote on "little miss naughty" paper;and I hadn't even considered that until we were at guest services:rotfl:

I explained I was uncomfortable discussing personal details with others listening, and therefore had wrote down a few things.
The cm took my piece of paper, read and then explained how DAS worked.
There were no questions, nor any comments whatsoever.

Thank you! I hadn't even really thought about nosy guests, but that makes sense and makes me even more interested in NOT discussing it all out loud!

I know you really shouldn't be bothered by other people's thoughts/opinions etc-but, sometimes it's just in your face and you can become unhappy even in wdw:confused3

You simply do,what works best for you and your family.
I have a problem being concise and direct-I tend to waffle;)
Therefore, I was very strict on how I composed my note.

Have a super trip.:cheer2:

When I went last month at HS I was nervous about having to go into details with others listening but it went much better then I thought first I just gave a very brief general reason why I can't wait in line and that was all she needed second it was right at opening at the outside Guest relations there was no one else there. The CM was super she made it a fast easy process
