I visited DW in March of 2013 before the introduction of the DAS card and I am unsure how they decide if you qualify for this or not. I have a mobility issue and cannot walk or stand long so the wait lines are not doable for me. I have a handicap placard for driving should I bring that with me? Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Your handicap placard is for motor vehicles/parking only. It should remain in the vehicle.

Mobolity and stamina issues generally don't qualify for a DAS; instead, a mobility assistance device is strongly recommended.

There's a great deal of information in the WDW DAS sticky thread at the top of this forum.

We just got back. We were traveling with a friend that has a club foot and can not stand for any length of time. We used a transport wheelchair and did not have a DAS card. Most of the time we went through the regular line in the wheelchair until the chair could go no further. Then we were moved to the transfer area. Only once were we given a time to return and that was on Big Thunder Mountain. Almost all of the queues can handle a wheelchair or scooter.

If you are using a wheelchair or a scooter I don't think you will need one. If you still do I think all you have to do is explain your situation.

Mobility issues will be advised to use a mobility aid as most lines are accessible.

a handicapped placard is useless outside of the car.

for strictly mobility issues you are expected to rent an ECV or wheelchair and will NOT qualify for a DAS.

Thank you for the suggestion to leave the placard in my vehicle, I just wasn't sure if I needed "proof" of a disability.

It's a good question, but Disney doesn't require, and in fact cannot, ask for proof. You will need to explain to them what your needs are, and as others have mentioned, if your needs are all mobility related, you most likely will not receive a DAS, but rather you will be advised to rent a wheelchair or ECV.
