DAS or not? Confused.

Haven't been to WDW in 1.5 years and are going in early December. Both of my adult DS's use wheelchairs due to their disability. With this new DAS system, I am confused on whether or not we need one, or if their wheelchairs will suffice.

We do plan on getting our 3 FP+ per day. There are so many rides they cannot go on that really 3 rides is about our limit at most parks with the exception of MK. So, at MK we usually have to go to a separate entrance for some rides because of the wheelchairs, like Peter Pan's Flight. Will we still do that? Do we need a DAS to do that?

Are their handicapped spots on the parade routes in all the parks still? Do I need a DAS to access them or are their wheelchairs enough?

Like I said, I am just confused.

If their only issue is a wheelchair they will not issue a DAS but if they have other issues that go with their disability you can explain that and you may get one.

As Michigan mentioned, if their primary disability is mobility, they will not need or get a DAS.

Some attractions have been renovated to have Mainstream lines, which means there is no separate wheelchair entrance because the lines are accessible.
There are a few, including Peter Pan and Small World that are not accessible. Those do have a wheelchair entrance.
There is a special park map for guests with disabilities that list the 'mobility entrances'. For most, the entrance listed is to use the regular line or obtain a Fastpass to use the Fastpass Plus line. Those are the Mainstream lines.
A few give other instructions for entry.
Those are the attractions with handicapped entrances.

You do NOT need a DAS to use those entrances or bring a wheelchair into lines.
If it is not busy, you will go right into the attraction. If it is busy, they will give you a wheelchair return time pass with a return time window written on it. You can return any time during that window and will enter the attraction right away.
The time written on the wheelchair return pass will be the current standby wait minus about 10 minutes.
If you have Fastpass Plus for any of those attractions, your return time ticket will be written to be valid right then.

There are still handicapped parade viewing areas and you do not need a DAS to use them. The CMs can see the wheelchair and will allow you into the area because of the wheelchair.

One last question. If I am given a wheelchair return time as mentioned above, do I need to go someplace to get the paper the return time will be written on, like guest Services? Or do the CM's give you the paper right at the entrance to the ride with a wheelchair return time.

The only reason I am asking is because when we went to US & IOA in January we were given a paper to take to all the rides and if the wait was over 30 minutes, the staff wrote the return time on it.

It is right at the ride entrance.

That is how the DAS at WDW works. But, you don't need a DAS at WDW to bring a wheelchair in line or to use any of the wheelchair accessible entrances.

Splash' btrrm, pp, iasw, and the car ride in tomorrow land have separate wheelchair entrances and I think jungle cruise does too. There are still wheel chair sections for the parades but where very full so get there early or get a fp.
If the issue is mobility only they won't give you a das and you won't need one for the wheelchair qs.
