I'm trying to read as much as I can to understand the DAS and FP+ and how to use them together effectively. But now I'm just more confused than ever.

If I have a DAS return time for, say, Peter Pan and it's at 2pm, can I still use my scheduled FP+ at 1:20 even though it falls in between when I requested the DAS and when my return time falls?

Additionally, if I request a DAS at an attraction, and that standby line is 60 minutes, can I have an active DAS rerun time (in 60 minutes) and then go to another attraction that has a standby wait time of 5 minutes in between the request and the return (and just wait in the standby line for the 5 minutes)?

Last question- if I request a DAS return time and it's, let's say, 80 minutes, what if I have a FP+ plus window that falls in between. So an example- I request the DAS return time at 3:00pm. The return time is at 4:20. But I have a previously booked FP+ time between 3:20-4:20. 1.) Is it even possible for that to happen? 2.) If so, will my magic band actually allow me to use the FP+ in between my DAS request and return time.

I don't know if what I just said even made sense. Sigh. Help?

The answer to all our questions are yes. You can have a FP time and a DAS time that overlap, you can have a FP time and DAS times for the same ride. DAS times don't expire (like FP times), but you can not get a new one until you use the previous one.

Basically the DAS and the FP think of them as separate things, 1 has nothing to do with the other. If you have a FP for lets say 10:30 on Peter Pan and Peter Pan also has a stand by wait of 20 minutes you can ride peter pan at 10:30 on your FP but then also get a DAS return time for 10:40 if you want to ride the ride back to back and that would be ok. We did that last year with 7DMT. I will say this always make sure you a return time on your DAS no matter what your FP times are.

A DAS return time does expire at the end of the day it was assigned if it went unused.
And you can also cancel a DAS return time without using it by getting a new return time for a different attraction.

You guys are super helpful! Thanks so much! The one thing I'm still not really clear on is regarding the DAS return time. If I request a DAS return time at an attraction that has a 60 minute wait time, and we go wait elsewhere, can we also ride another ride that has a short wait time in between? Or am I "locked in" the queue where I request the DAS return time, thereby keeping me from doing anything else with my magic band during that window?

You are welcome to do what you choose during the wait for a DAS return time. That may include another attraction (ride or show), having a snack, shopping, walking, watch a parade, go back to your resort for a swim, etc.

Enjoy your vacation!

Yes you can ride as many rides as you want between when you get the return time and when you return. The DAS return time will be the wait time minus 10 minutes, if I remember correctly.

I hope this dose not confuse you but you can lets say pooh has a 30 minute wait you can get a DAS return time and then go in the stand by line for the same ride ( pooh). I do this some times if I am not sure I can do the stand by line ( some times I think I can do a line then I find out I can not when in line) and if I can I go to the next attraction and just have them cancel the first one ( pooh)

Yes, that makes sense. So in that circumstance, you would also have the option of riding pooh twice in a row (once in the standby line and once with the return time), right?

You could get back in line. I have only been able to do this 2x in all the time I have been to Disney world once was at pooh posted time was 20 minutes and the line was only 10. The other time I did single rider line for TT. But I canceled the DAS return time both times. For the most part I try to use the DAS as if I could wait in the stand by line and you can not be in two lines at once is how I feel. I will some time get a return time before getting in a FP line but I can only do 3 things before I have to take a long break

Near the top of this board, there is a WDW DAS thread that can answer any questions you have about using DAS.
Only the first post is up to date, the rest are discussion from before and just after DAS started.

http://www.disboards.com/threads/wd...15-digital-das-on-tickets-magicbands.3178976/

To summarize the information you were given:
DAS, Fastpass and Standby waits are completely separate.

You can only have one active (unused) DAS Return Time at a time. When that one has been used, you can make another.
Having DAS or Fastpass doesn't affect going into a Standby line.

DAS Return Times have a beginning time. They can't be used before that time, but can be used any time after that until the park closes.

Fastpasses have a window of time with a beginning and end and must be used during that window.

It's possible to have a DAS Return Time and a Fastpass for the same time period. Keep in mind that if you use the DAS Return Time for the same time period first, it's possible that your Fastpass might expire before you can use it.
The thread I linked to gives instructions on how to do things if you have DAS Return Time and Fastpass for the same time.

Thanks for the reply :)

I did read the FAQ thread but those are the things I wasn't completely clear on. I also saw on another thread where someone said that once you request the return time with the DAS, you can't enter anything else that requires you to scan your band because you're already "in a queue" for that attraction so to speak, just like you were waiting in the real line.

Maybe I misunderstood the other post, but it certainly confused me compared to the differing info in the FAQ thread.

I'm really glad to hear that it's possible to get a DAS return time for one attraction while watching a show or entering another attraction with a very short wait time. That will definitely be a big help for us.

Thank you all for the input and help.

The bolded information is definitely not correct.

The person may have misunderstood or was trying to explain you can only have one DAS Return Time at a time.

You can have a DAS Return Time and a Fastpass for the same time period.
Before entering the Fastpass line, you need to decide which you want to use first.
If you want to use the DAS Return Time first, the DAS holder needs to scan their Magicband/ticket first, before anyone else in your group. The Fastpass scanner will 'see' the DAS Return Time, the Mickey head will glow green, which will alert the CM to check the screen on the Fastpass scanner. The CM will authorize entry and then the rest of your group can scan their Magicbands.

If you want to use the Fastpass first, someone other than the DAS holder should scan their Magicband first.

I know this is not my thread, but thanks for the useful information! Next year will be our first year with the magic band DAS so I wasn't really sure how that worked lol.

Does anyone have experience getting the DAS from AK? We have always gotten it from MK and have never had a problem, they have always been super nice, helpful, and time efficient with it. Next year we are staying st AKL...our check in day I am going to book an ADR to Sanaa for dinner (prolly around 6) I was hoping to get over to a park that afternoon to take care of requesting the DAS so we are ready to go the next full park day...I mean I will go over to MK if it's easier but AK is just so much closer and will save loads of time if I can request it from there.

I have gotten my DAS at each park each park is the same.

Ok perfect thanks! I know my son would much rather go to AK probably to get the DAS Bc then I could also maybe schedule a FP for expedition Everest that afternoon...that's the only ride I constantly hear about lol..,since we skipped AK last year and he didn't get to ride it lol

How do you get DAS for a large group??? Lets say you are in Frontierland and you would like to get a DAS for the group for Haunted Mansions , would all of us have to walk over to HM . With the card 1 of us could get the Das for the group!!!???

As long as you are all linked on the DAS card anyone can get a return time on it.

The short answer is when DAS is authorized, all the members of your group will have their Magicband or park tickets linked to the DAS - usually that will be a group of no more than 6 total.
Anyone who is linked to DAS can go to request a DAS Return Time.

The first post in this thread can answer any of the questions you might have about DAS.
