Interesting that the other family was able to request getting added to your son's DAS without your son or someone from your party present.

I agree. That would be very unusual, even if they are listed in your Friends & Family.
The times we have added people, our daughter (the DAS holder) had to be present.

It may be important to remember that “riding together” is not always “riding together.”

Some (many) rides don’t accommodate that may people in a ride car, and that’s before the car was modified. Thnk Doom Mobiles. Think honeypots. Think elephants..
